Absolutely blown away by the TCL 85" QM8K (2025). The picture quality is stunning—deep blacks, incredibly bright highlights, and vibrant colors thanks to the QD-Mini LED technology. HDR content looks phenomenal, and even standard 4K content is upscaled beautifully. The size is immersive without sacrificing clarity, and motion handling is smooth, making it perfect for movies, sports, and gaming. Google TV is fast, intuitive, and gives easy access to all major streaming apps. The built-in speakers are surprisingly good, though pairing it with a sound system makes it feel like a true home theater. For the price, this TV offers premium performance that rivals much more expensive brands. TCL really nailed it with the QM8K—highly recommended!

Very happy with the TCL QM8K after 12 days of ownership. Out of the box the set delivered stunning images in Film Maker mode and adjustment. I will have this television professionally calibrated. The blacks are close to my LG OLED. Exceptionally bright and no perceived hallowing with the best sound of any of my past flat screen sets. Good base and at times a wide soundstage depending on the source. Of course will not be equal to a dedicated Dolby surround system. The navigation system is very good and the metal remote is excellent and elegant, thoughtfully arranged buttons. On the downside, the off axis viewing is not good, inferior to my 65 inch, 21 year old Sharp Aquos LCD this set replaced! This is not a problem for me because the set is always viewed directly in a large primary bedroom. My wife and myself were able to unbox and set up the set ourselves, so don’t be intimidated by the size. Overall a very good television in my opinion.

QM8K: Excellent picture quality with bright HDR performance, vivid colors, and high contrast. The sound is powerful even without a soundbar, and the Smart Google TV smart is smooth and enjoyable with built-in apps.

Looks great so far. I put it on default view settings and havnt had to change anything yet. I use a fire tv cube for apps, not the tv apps.

So far I have nothing but good things to say about the TV, we will see about reliability with time.

This TV is incredible! I bought this TV to replace my 77" OLED TV. The black levels are better than my OLED TV. This TV is so much brighter than my OLED TV. And the 85" screen size feels much bigger than my old 77". Football season will be great with this TV!

Much brighter than my OLED TV with a wide viewing angle with no perceptible loss of picture. Our large rectangular room has seating on all three walls witj the TV wall mounted over a fireplace. VAiewing is fine from any wall.

This tv is everything I expected, after many positive reviews on YouTube and my discussion with the salesman at Best Buy. High tech but once set up, it’s a beautiful sight and found experience.

On my 3rd 85QM8k, the first two arrived cracked. After 2-months, the 3rd has now developed a blue line/glow on the right edge (several Reddit posts on this defect). Will now have to fight with TCL's customer support to try to get a replacement. Will avoid the brand altogether after this.

I recently purchased the 85-inch TCL QM8K, and overall, I am very impressed with its performance and feature set, although there are a couple of drawbacks worth noting. First, the pros: The picture quality is simply stunning. The colors are vibrant, the contrast is deep, and the brightness levels are fantastic for both day and night viewing. It really brings movies and games to life on its massive screen. A major selling point for me was the inclusion of the next-gen ATSC 3.0 tuner, ensuring I'm ready for future broadcast standards. Additionally, the inclusion of HDMI 2.1 ports means it's fully compatible with the latest gaming consoles and high-refresh-rate content, which is a big plus for gamers. Now for the cons: This TV is heavy. Be prepared to have at least two strong people for setup, and make sure your TV stand or wall mount can handle the significant weight of this 85-inch behemoth. My other minor gripe is that the eARC port is only HDMI 2.0, which is a bit of a limitation if you want to pass through the highest quality, uncompressed audio formats from multiple modern devices to a sound system. The built-in speakers are somewhat "okay" for casual viewing, but if you want truly immersive, cinematic sound that matches the incredible picture, you will definitely want to invest in a dedicated soundbar or home theater system. In summary, the TCL QM8K offers phenomenal picture quality and future-proof features that outweigh its minor physical and audio limitations. It's a great choice if you prioritize a stunning display and plan on adding external audio equipment.

I was deciding between Samsung SQ90F and this QM8K. Overall picture quality is superior. Price was amazing which is why I did not consider the QM9K. Blacks are excellent and almost on par with OLED. Brightness is almost too much. I ended up keeping it on mid bright settings for darker room. Glad I did not go with larger screen since Blu-ray and standard definition content would have almost been unwatchable. Sound system is better than most sub $200 sound bars. Remote is well made and menu is easy to follow.

This TV replaces a 4 or 5 year old Sony x90L, so that is what I will compare it to. The 4K image and the 1080p image are simply spectacular. Colors are very accurate and blooming is relatively minimal leaps and bounds better than my old Sony.. It is sensitive to source/broadcast material and processing/upscaling come into play. If the 720p is quality, the TCL does a satisfactory job handling it. The Sony is slightly better. The TCL struggles with 480p content. It is watchable but again - not superior to the Sony. The Sony (Bravia 7/8/9) all have superior processors for lower quaity content. However the difference is marginal/minimal and not significant enough to me to ignore the spectacular deal Best Buy had on the TCL TV. Be prepared to tweak some settings when you first hook it up. That's necessary even on the Sony (just less of them). There are excellent 'how to' settings videos on YouTube. (Just be aware there is one particular reviewer/influencer ' that is not credible - even though they have one valid point regarding motion - in my opinion when judging this TV. It wont take you long to figure that out. Regarding motion. ....sports like hockey and football are going to be dependent on source. Be prepared to turn motion settings to custom and down to a '1' or a '2' . Or maybe completely off. This will eliminate 97 - 100% of ghosting. Remember....lousy or poor source.....then lousy or poor viewing. Last point, stick to filmmaker or movie modes. Buy an extended warranty! I wold absolutely reccomend that for any brand TV including a Sony or Samsung or LG. Especially if it is a high end model like this one. I think the Best Buy plans are completely worth it. I am extremely happy with this purch

I really like my TCL QM8K TV. The color is outstanding. It is very saturated and you can change a number of settings per your preferences. My one big recommendation is getting the 8K certified cable because I was having a little trouble with lag once I got the 8K cable that took care of any blacking out because of handshaking problems between my Roku unit and the TV I thought the price for what you get is worth it I also think that the panel in the TV at this price point is a little better than the QM7. To each his own I was on the fence about getting an LG but I think while it may not be as good as OLED. I think it’s a pretty good deal for the money. I don’t love the sound coming out of the TV alone. I recommend the sound bar for sure. I don’t seem to have any problem with sports either. I didn’t have any judder or fuzziness. There is a sports setting if that’s a big deal to you.

I don't usually post my rating/review for a product but for this one i had to. This is a excellent TV for the price, don't let the brand TCL dissuade you (other more popular brands use panels from TCL FYI). Once I changed a few settings, just wow the brightness and clarity and richness of the colors is just so beautiful. It comes pretty darn close to a OLED TV and for me the small difference in OLED vs this mini LED is not worth the extra $1.5k. You'll be very happy with this TV and for most casual viewers it will tick off all the boxes you want out of a TV. It comes with google tv which so far is the smoothest operating system compared to other brand UI junk (samsung, LG). I have this TV paired with a soundbar and an apple tv and it has been an amazing experience. The inbuilt speakers are alright, for me once you have a soundbar its hard to go back to TV speakers.

Overall TV is good. The sound is surprisingly decent for a modern TV. The picture and colors are good and it performs well with HDR. Be warned that if you view the TV from an angle more than about 30 degrees the colors will be washed out, get an Oled if that bothers you. I came from an older lg oled, which looked awesome but was not as bright. This tcl looks very good but lacks the “wow” factor of oled, since oled has better contrast, color, and viewing angles.

I am thrilled with this TV, holds up well against my Sony Bravia 9. Brightness and picture quality are excellent as well as blacks. Upscaling and motion handling good too; off angle viewing is also pretty good.
