I looked and looked and researched and looked again until I drove myself crazy with specs. Bottom line it was between the Samsung Q85a ,LG and the TCL. With the features on the TCL ,brilliant picture, screen size and Roku interface which work’s seem less with google home not to mention the voice command on the remote it was a no brained for me. I would have had to have spent a minimum of $500 difference. I was and still am a huge Samsung fan and a fan of qled technology and the tcl has the qled but also has the mini led full array which is incredible for blacks and I haven’t seen any blooming at all. The picture is astounding and if you don’t have a home theater or sound bar system the onboard onkyo sound built in is pretty amazing. You just can’t beat the value this model offers if your in the market for an 85” screen.

I am Happy with my purchase , I owned this tv for about a month now , I love roku it is so easy to navigate , the picture quality is amazing, the sound is amazing , there is no need for a sound bar. When watching in 4K it is just breath taking, and the size of the tv is like you are at the movie theater everyday.

One of the best tv i have ever got. The blacks are deep. Screen gets extremly bright in sdr and hdr. Vivid beatiful colors. Motion is great. No dirty screen effect. I have a 4 series and 6 series and this one is my favorite so far.

Absolutely unquestionably the most ridiculous and best TV I've ever bought or seen. 4k hdr on this TV is STUNNING, launch the YouTube app and search for "12k demo"'to see what this TV can do. Black levels are fantastic, blooming not a problem, HDR and Dolby vision are amazing, built in sound is good but can can optical or HDMI out to a receiver or sound bar too. I love the Roku ecosystem. The Fox Sports Roku app had the 2022 world cup live in 4k hdr, I've never seen live sports like that before, remarkable, I look forward to more of that in all sports and other events. When my kids saw it for the first time they said "WOW we have our own movie theater now!" Ironically I've owned 3 projectors and have a 12 foot screen but this TV is better than a projector (brighter and supports more features and capabilities) and I located it closer to the couch than the projector screen was so it feels just as big if not bigger than the 12 foot projector screen! The TV was challenging to move, quite heavy, and if you can't get it delivered I'd recommend using a trailer (see 8 foot trailer in picture) or truck and keeping it UPRIGHT secured with rachet straps (I put a mattress under it for cushioning), the best buy guys that carried it out thought I was crazy then their manager came over and said that was the best way to move it. Follow the directions for putting the legs on the TV while still in the upright position, my TV was never once tilted over at all.

Really good tv for the price. Some of the reds are not perfect, and the colors are not as well represented as they are on our Sony, but considering it was 1/3 the price and 10 inches bigger its a great TV for the value. Only thing I really wish was better is it hangs up every now and then (more than our other 6 ROKU TV's). If you want absolute true colors then get an OLED.

My husband is in 7th heaven - watching this TV is like being in a theater. It's as if the actors or athletes are IN THE ROOM! The only problem that we had was finding furniture long enough and sturdy enough to support this behemoth. It weighs a ton even after unpacking (the packaging was very secure) - over 100 lbs, but the bigger issue was that the feet are set at the very ends of the TV screen (not inset 8-10" as on our previous TVs), so make sure that you take that into account when planning space for this baby. I like, too, that the brightness setting could be altered appropriately - this has a HUGE screen so very bright programs (particularly daytime live sports) are too bright for the typical home den or living room, we had to tone it down/darker the screen, for brighter programs.

This is a solid performer. To give you some context, I do visual effects for work and so things like color and black levels are items that I am quite fussy over. Enter the TCL 85. It's a beast. Truly a marvel of technology. After turning down all the settings to a normal level, colors looked very accurate. This is without using CALMAN, or any official calibration hardware. TCL's own calibration app does not work with this unit. That seems odd given the pedigree. Picture looks awesome and is engrossing. Taking off all the dynamic contrast, motion smoothing, etc makes it very clean. However, the black levels on films that have 2.39/2.40 aspect ratio allow you to see them which means blacks are elevated. Using some test patterns, you can see that there is some clipping from 16-20. Not too bad but it's of note. I also wish that the menus that control everything wouldn't be so large over the top of the image. It's annoying. Yes I can use the app but it's easier to click a button and watch the change versus having to look at your phone and back if you want to get the image the best you can. I am going to return this unit and get a 77" OLED TV. Blacks on those are incredible.

Other sites do a great job telling you about all the features of this and other TCL TV's. What I'm here to tell you is just how much I love all of my TCL televisions, this one included. I used to be a high-end Sony and LG buyer, but have been amazed the the quality and value that TCL brings. If you're afraid of investing any money in something you may feel is a "value-driven" brand - don't. The quality you seek is there for a fraction of the price the high end brands charge. TCL is a game changer! Highly recommend this TV. Try TCL, you will NOT regret it.

I'm not an expert on tv's & their qualities, but this definitely blows regular LED tv's away! Clarity & colors are absurd!

This is a great TV. Never imagined what a difference is viewing on this larger size. We went up from a 75". I like that it is a TCL, good value and performs great. We are extremely satisfied, could of bought a higher end model, but this this one works just fine. We paired it with a Klispch Cinema 600. We also installed it ourselves, although it took 3 of us as it weighs 110 lbs.

Picture and color are amazing. Sound surprisingly great, much better than our 4-series TCL. Go big or go home. Glad we went with the bigger screen, really does feel like a home theatre now.

Upgrading from the TCL 75" to the TCL 85" was an easy decision since we love our 75" tv and we just wanted and bigger screen in that room and would relocate the 75". The picture quality is outstanding and all of the TV's features are well thought out. The packaging was unbelievable, It would take a lot to damage this TV the way it is packed.

This is a great looking 4K television, it really looks enormous, the picture quality is great. It’s also Roku and has all my apps available. I’m not a big gamer but I like the game mode it has.

This thing is massive and the picture quality is awesome. Put this in my new media room and I couldn’t be happier. Everyone that sees it loves it.
