This is a older movie that I had previously seen, but my wife had not and I was delighted when I was able to purchase it from BestBuy at a good price so my wife and I can watch it anytime we want.

I read the book years ago and thought it was pretty good at the time. I can't speak to how well it matches the movie though as I can't recall all the details of the book. However, I thought the screenplay was pretty good and enjoyed the acting from the cast. I enjoyed the movie and would recommend it too.

A really cool modern film noir with great acting and characters

A co worker recommended this movie. We often review everything that comes out in Theaters and our taste is very similar. I had never heard of Casey Afflek until I read the cover of the movie. The era that the movie is set in puzzled me initially. However, from start to finish the movie was excellent, the plot, characters and twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat. And just when I thought I figured out the end of the movie it doesn't disappoint to make me say WOW, who is this Casey Afflek.

If you liked the book then watch the movie. They do a fantastic job capturing the nature of the characters directly from the book, which made it more enjoyable. If you haven't read the book, but like some film noir then its worth a look.
