The movie had both good drama and lighthearted laughs. What makes the movie is the friendship between Prince Albert (played by Colin Firth) and his Australian speech therapist Lionel Logue (played by Geoffrey Rush). Throughout the movie, Logue helps Prince Albert overcome his speech impediment to lead his nation through the Second World War. The entire movie is the struggle for a king who has a stutter that prevents him from being a public speaker like his father and brother. But when his father dies and his brother recants the throne, the right to Kingship is given to Prince Albert which forces him to take the responsibilities of Kingship which includes public speaking. I think the movie deserved the Oscar for Best Picture when it was in the running. Overall the movie was great and I know that as soon as I finish writing this review, I plan on watching it once more.

The acting was excellent. The plot was engrossing.

This is a great film. It has some cursing including the "f" word. The context is used within a speech therapy session and not directed at someone. The film gives a behind the scenes glimpse into what brought King George VI to the throne of England and the personal struggles he faced in his life. Actors are well cast for their roles.

this is Colin Firth as you have never seen him and I loved it. An insight into British history which is seldom touched on and very insightful. Definitely worth watching again and again especially if you love Colin Firth as I do.

Wife picked this up the other day. She rented it on iTunes before and loved it. Had to have it so here it is. I can say I've seen bits and pieces , it does seem to be pretty good. Guess I'll watch it all the way through with her on a rainy day !

Other than hearing this was a good movie, I knew very little about the story before watching the movie. It quickly draws you in and makes you feel the emotion of the characters. It is a great tale of triumph over difficulty.

Great movie! Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, and Helena Bonham Carter are great! Terrific scenery and cimenatography!

I have not yet watched this movie yet but my bf enjoys it. He says it's a tear jerker as in a very inspiring movie. He has to be in the mood to watch it again, so until then, I don't get to watch.

Great story. Resilience, persistence, and overcoming hardships pays off in the end.

This is a must have for your collection, if you like having the Oscar winners in your collection. I would recommend it for people who enjoy history, or appreciate a larger than life story.

The King's Speech is an excellent historical drama. It is an old fashioned period piece. The performances by Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush were superior. A must see movie.

Deserves its Academy Award. Great acting, direction, sets, and story. This movie is always moving forward, and keeps you not wanting to miss the next moment.

I enjoyed this movie alot. Especially the little dogs. The brother King Edward was portrayed very well as the most immature person around and very cruel.

Despite streaming these days, I still watch disks and am glad to have quick and easy access to a story I enjoy.

What a well done movie. A true story that makes you see how hard someone and what they will do to over come.

This is a story about overcoming obstacles, that is stylishly done with some great acting by Colin Firth. You will no doubt enjoy !

Great movie about courage and determination. The King's Speech is inspirational. You cheer for him throughout the movie.

I bought this for my wife. She wore out our fist copy of this movie. She can say all the lines by heart
