Michael Mann has directed, in my opinion, one of the great pieces of early American literature and turned it into a very believable and exciting film, staring Daniel Day Lewis, and supported by an excellent cast of Native Americans and characters from the original JF Cooper story. Everything about this film is first class, including the performance of Wes Studi as the twisted Magua, and Steven Waddington as the British major who damages his own honor for love, only to have it restored in the end at the greatest of costs. The scenery in this movie is exquisite, i think having been filmed in the Hudson River valley, where I believe is the setting for Coopers book. if you like American history, and a great story, you need to watch this movie. Last but not least, the Musical score is the icing on the cake as the music is so well matched to the era, that it makes you fell as though your watching an event as it happens over 250 years ago. It is, in my opinion, one of the best movies ever made.

Perhaps the most significant and remarkable difference between the original 1936 version and this 1992 re-make of the classic James Fenimore Cooper adventure tale are not the variables found in all remakes such as modern film making techniques, etc. You naturally expect the basic story to remain intact but to reflect the screenwriter's nuanced interpretation in presenting his view of the author's work The basic story remains the same although there are differences in what is emphasized for dramatic effect. The most striking difference you will find is in the emotionally powerful and beautiful musical score under the direction of Trevor Jones and Randy Edelman. The music dominates the mood of any film and its naturally dramatic effect on the 'emotional feel' of the entire film. You are in for a treat with this satisfying rendition of 'The Last of the Mohicans'!

In my opinion, The Last of the Mohicans is one of the finest movie ever made. The director's cut lets us see the film how the director, Michael Mann intended it to be seen instead of what the studio decided the film should be. Mann did an excellent job directing the non-stop action of the novel by James Fenimore Cooper. Daniel Day-Lewis shines and, as usual, is a delight to watch. He is one of the finest acters of our generation. From the script to the finished product, this version of the film is fantastic!!

The last of the Mohicans director's definitive cut blu ray five stars This may not be the best Hollywood film of the nineties but certainly is right up there with the best of them. Michael Mann and Cameron Crowe adapting the James Fenimore Cooper classic to the screen with Dante Spinotti behind cameras made a film that looks and hears like anything else. The highest recommendations. A must see film.

Last of the Mohicans is a great movie based on the old 20's (maybe 30's) movie and not the book. The story of revenge and love based during the French - Indian war with impresssive performance by Daniel Day Lewis will have you saying to your wife when you drop her off at the mall "stay alive no matter what occur's, I will find you!"

young Lewis before he went underground - but the reason I bought this was for the cinematography and soundtrack... sometimes ya just need to chill with a bottle of wine and take in the beauty

Entertaining look at the early days of the United States. A love story set in Revolutionary times that also captures the plight of the American expansion into Indian country.

I love this movie. Even though Daniel Day Lewis plays an Indian. Serious white washing but hey its a great movie. I think we should do reverse white washing like Forest Gump played by Morgan Freeman...I would watch that lol

Ok, it’s not Star Wars. But this is an amazing story of frontier and adventure. All the plot and intrigue of Star Wars, but with muskets and swords.

I absolutely love this Revolutionary War Era movie. The story tells of the Native Americans adjustment to colonists and the sacrifices they made towards the good of men and progress.

The last copy we bought at a big box store was too dark and hard to hear. This copy is crisp and clear.
