About this product

In 1971, the Washington Post got a hold of the Pentagon Papers, the classified government study that detailed the true scope-and likelihood of success-of America's involvement in Vietnam. Katherine Graham (Meryl Streep) and editor Ben Bradlee (Tom Hanks) made the wrenching call to bring the story to public light... and face a possibly ruinous court battle over the documents' suppression. Steven Spielberg's compelling take on a free press's defining hour co-stars Bob Odenkirk, Tracy Letts, Sarah Paulson, Allison Brie. 116 min. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtracks English Dolby Digital 5.1, DVS 5.1, Spanish Dolby Digital stereo, French Dolby Digital stereo; Subtitles English (SDH), Spanish, French; featurettes.

Great movie about freedom of the press

Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep are great as the editor and owner of The Washington Post, respectively. The movie has historical importance in regard to the Pentagon Papers and the Vietnam war.

An engaging story with amazing performances

It's hard to know where to begin with this movie, as there's just so much to love here. Even if you know the story of the Pentagon Papers and the Washington Post's involvement with them, Steven Spielberg does a fantastic job of telling the story in a fresh and engaging way that should leave most viewers satisfied. The cast is one of the best I've ever seen in any film, and though I recognized nearly every actor with a notable role, the performances are so diverse and well-done that I didn't see the individual actors, but rather the historical figures they were portraying. As a journalist myself, I'm probably at least a little biased toward liking this movie, but everything is done so effectively that I really feel that most people will ultimately get some sort of enjoyment out of it.

Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep - enough said

This is based on true events. I didn’t know all the details and this filled them in perfectly. Absolutely worthy of your viewing . Fantastic acting. You need to watch this little piece of history. Back when people respected what is right and what is wrong and did the right thing. Something sorry lacking in today’s political climate

    Do You Have The Papers?

A true story based on the Pentagon Papers, The Washington Post and of course the Fall of the Nixon era! It was a slow story to follow in the beginning but eventually, I warmed up through the heart of the movie. None better to project this story with Steven Spielberg at the helm and great acting performances by Tom Hanks & Meryl Streep!

    Another Important Film

I think it's great to have films that expose the hypocrisy and often criminal behavior of our elected government officials. The more eyes that are opened the better for our future. It's also a treat seeing Hanks and Streep together for the first time. And it's Spielberg. What's not to like??
