I love shark movies and far too many end up being a joke. This movie is very well made and the shark is used sparingly yet very realistically. This is not cheesy and it delivers on a horror level as well.

One of the best shark movie since Jaws 1&2. Thrilling and nail biting scariest situation you never want to find yourself in.

This movie does a great job of keeping the suspense and terror going the entire movie. Great watch!

i enjoyed the movie. most "shark" movies are unbelievable and stupid (except "Jaws!"), but this one wasn't. It was well acted and kept you interested.

The Reef was slow in the beginning and really didn't pick up until the last 40 minutes or so but it was still quite good, one reason for me was because Damian Walshe-Howling is so hot and easy to look at.. the acting was very believable from all the actors but I couldn't take my eyes off of Howling. This movie was 20 times more nerve racking and tense than Open Water or any other shark film. Reasons being besides the fact that the camera angles were brilliant but The story also made you care about some of the characters so when they were in danger you felt like you were being terrorized as well. All said and done a great addition to the what lurks beneath genre.

The Reef is a welcome addition to the animals-attack/shark genre. I preferred it over Open Water. The characters are likeable for the most part and there is some definite tension and build-up before things really start to rock in the second half of the film. It is an Australian flick that features some beautiful land and seascapes. If you are irritated by accents then this might not be for you but there are some great Australian horror/thriller flicks out there. I adore Adrienne Pickering.

I would rate this as the second best shark movie after Jaws. Based on a true story.
