Tremendously touching, funny, heart warming and moving story of a man - paralyzed since birth and confined to an iron lung - who late in his 30s - decides to hire a surrogate to help him lose his virginity. Marvelously played by John Hawkes and Helen Hunt as his surrogate in as tender a romance as you'll see on screen - they make for a unique duo -one you've never seen before. William H. Macy also co-stars as a witty priest who doles out sympathetic advice from behind his collar. This is a true story and a wonderful one - one that will stay with you long after Fade Out.

Based on a true story this film is told from the perspective of the main character who is almost completely paralyzed with Polio. Knowing his life expectancy is limited and not wanting to have lived without experiencing the physical act of love he hires a surrogate. The beautiful and touching results of his experiences and the way it effects those around him is not to be missed.

A very highly regarded Independent film that made a big splash at the 2012 Sundance film festival based on a true story about Mark O'Brien regarding his decision to enhance his life by losing his virginity with a professional therapist despite his physical disability. Wonderful performances by John Hawkes, Helen Hunt, William H. Macy and Moon Bloodgood.

I really love this movie! I actually love every Helen Hunt movie. However, John Hawkes deserved more recognition from the Academy for his performance. If you watch the documentary on Mark O'Brien, it really brings to light the incredible acting he displayed.

This movie was good fromthe perspective of someone who may have physical limitations. It made me more cognizant of how blessed many of us are to be pusedo- dependent of others.. Great movie as it is touching mentally, physically and humanely.

A cute film. Much better than expected. A bit candid in terms of subject but a great film.
