Limited 180 gm vinyl LP pressing of this 1961 album includes four bonus tracks. This quintessential collector's edition includes the legendary singer's magnificent debut LP for the Tamla tag, the Soulful Moods of Marvin Gaye, plus bonus tracks, consisting of singles from the same period. The album was recorded over two weeks and was issued on June 8, 1961. It features more Jazz than Soul, and had a much different sound than Gaye's subsequent albums. Gaye's true artistic longing was to make his mark as a smooth crooner. Where many in the Motown stable had to be coached through their all-purpose shows at the Copacabana and other supper clubs - the tag's way of claiming mainstream legitimacy - Marvin yearned for this level of artistry and acceptance. This is the material upon which his soul kingdom and unique personal style were built. Album Tracks 1. (I'm Afraid) the Masquerade Is Over 2. My Funny Valentine 3. Witchcraft 4. Easy Living 5. How Deep Is the Ocean 6. Hitch Hike 7. Taking My Time 8. Love for Sale 9. Always 10. How High the Moon 11. Let Your Conscience Be Your Guide 12. Never Let You Go 13. You Don't Know What Love Is 14. Mr. Sandman 15. I'm Yours, You're Mine

Double 180 gram vinyl LP pressing in gatefold jacket. Motown released the first Marvin Gaye record in 1961. Gaye scored his first real hit with 'Stubborn Kind of Fellow' in 1962, which he had co-written himself, joking about his alleged stubbornness. The foundations were now laid for an enormous series of chart successes 'Pride And Joy', 'Can I Get A Witness', 'How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)' and 'Ain't That Peculiar' are all Motown classics from 1963-1965 which are still being regularly played today after all these years. The duets he recorded with Kim Weston ('It Takes Two') and especially Tammi Terrell were certainly at least as good. He scored his biggest ever hit with 'I Heard It Through The Grapevine' in 1968. The 'What's Going On' from the same named album became a number 1 hit in the USA and the album was received as a masterpiece everywhere and is now regarded as one of the most important records in pop history. In 1973, the artistically and commercially very successful, Let's Get It On album was mainly a musical ode to Marvin's love for his new muse Janis Hunter. The pop world lost one of the most important soul singers ever to grace the world on 1st April 1984. He has left behind a series of fantastic hits plus a big handful of tracks which deserve the title of masterpiece, all collected on this album. Album Tracks 1. (I'm Afraid) the Masquerade Is Over 2. Around the Fur the follow-up to Deftones' passionate, aggressive Adrenaline, sees the California quartet expanding on the sheer rage of their earlier work, adding new, more sinister shades to their already extreme sound. The opening InchMy Own Summer (Shove It),Inch serves as an introduction to the album's sonic theme sinewy guitars and eerie whispers alternate with fast, violent crunch. Sepultura's Max Cavallero contributes guitar and vocals to InchHeadup,Inch while InchMXInch finds singer Chino trading off vocal lines with Annalynn Cunningham, (wife of Deftones' drummer Abe) in an acerbic take on the rock star mentality. Vocal acrobat Moreno attacks a variety of styles his breathy, psychotic recitations sound downright industrial, while the album's calmer, more brooding moments show his gift for haunting melody. Behind him, guitarist Stephen Carpenter's heavy wall of sound is astoundingly muscular, yet inspiringly agile. When Deftones' hellish fury hits full tilt, as it always does on this album, Moreno's voice erupts into screams which are best described as otherworldly, transforming this intense musical firestorm into a hurtling juggernaut of aggression. This LP version comes pressed on 180 gram vinyl. Album Tracks 1. My Own Summer (Shove It) 2. Lhabia 3. Mascara 4. Around the Fur 5. Rickets 6. Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away) 7. Lotion 8. Dai the Flu 9. Headup 10. MX
