A highly unique war movie as it appeals to a person's intellect. At times it drags a little but the action scenes are really good. With each successive viewing of this movie, I develop a greater appreciation of it.

Too bad this movie was overshadowed by Saving Private Ryan. This movie is a bit more art house but definitely worth a watch

The fact that people call this film pretentious and boring blows my mind. I have watched it several times and every time it plays I am glued to the screen. This movie grips me. It grips my soul and my being. It is so beautiful yet so painful. Malick does a superb of conveying that these men are not only fighting a physical war, they are also fighting a mental and emotional war. I love the scenes of Caviezel interacting and frolicking with the locals. I love the scenes of Chaplin reminiscing about his wife. I love the stills of the grass blowing in the wind. It may seem insignificant to some viewers but showing it after specific acts meant so much. This movie is perfect. I honestly did not know it was almost 3 hours long. Even if it were 6 hours I would still be glued to the screen each time it played. A great piece of art work. Oh and the musical score is also one of the best.

good actors. long film. seemed to drag too much at times but the action scenes were good.
1080 Video: 9.75/10 Audio: 8.5/10 This is the best-looking 1080 disc I own. Period. It looks better than some 4ks I own. The story is worth your time at least once, if for no other reason than to experience the director's vision with the best tools at his disposal.

Movie shows the different ways war affects the men. Loved that the men on both sides were portrayed the same, as frightened young men. Among the chaos of war were peaceful moments in beautiful sceneries.

Not many war films as good as this one. Quite long at 2:50 mins but it will keep your interest high. Cast mostly of unknowns (then) with a few high profile cast members in supporting roles. Not to miss

I truly love the movies that show how man reacts to difficult situations. Equally important is how real the situation is depicted.

I bought this because it was on sale and because I liked the score by Hans Zimmer. Overall the movie was good; not the greatest war movie, but very philosophical in nature.
