The U.S. and the Holocaust (Ken Burns) - DVD

As the Nazi regime systematically killed six million European Jews over the first half of the '40s, was America oblivious... or aware, but simply didn't care? Neither answer's correct, and this considered project from Ken Burns, Lynn Novick and Sarah Botstein takes a nuanced look at how Americans weighed one of history's greatest humanitarian crises, and raises issues of how our politicians, press, and public should respond to those in the future. 6 hrs. On three discs. Widescreen; Soundtrack English.

Ken Burns, Lynn Novick and Sarah Botstein's three-part, six-hour documentary series, The U.S. and the Holocaust, examines how the American people and our leaders responded to one of the greatest humanitarian disasters of the twentieth century, and how this catastrophe challenged our identity as a nation of immigrants and the very ideals of our democracy.

Ken Burns - Here & There is a rare look at the over four decade intimate relationship Ken Burns has with his America and beloved community of Walpole, NH - and the importance that a sense of place and belonging has in one's life.
