The inside of the microwave is dark gray and the light inside is dim. The numbers on the keypad are too small. The handle gets hot when the stove top is on.

Peeling handle

After three months the handle is peeling, I thought maybe it was mounted to low, After measuring its 20”, which is more than the required 18.” It functions extremely well, and as a bonus it’s quiet, however compared to my other 4 thermador appliances it feels cheap.

Microwave works well and has a strong ventilatory system. Surprisingly, the handle and finish work is a bit cheap using laminated steel. It can warp and peel if over a hot surface for a long period time.

Thermador microwave.

This was the only Thermador microwave I could find with a door that opened from the side. I've had it about three months and it has met my expectations. Instead of installing it over the range, I installed it over a counter (base). The installer was skillful and was able to expand the space for the microwave from 24 inches to 30 inches. I have a few cosmetic touches left to be done but overall, I am satisfied.

Senior citizen's beware!!

If you're a senior citizen, think twice about buying this. The huge handle gets so hot when you cook under it that even if you run the vent fan full speed, use a pot holder to open it. The fan noise is loud enough to drive you out of the kitchen. On the other hand, the tone to alert you when the food is done is so soft you need to be standing close to hear it. The panel letters are so small that even with lights on in daylight I have to put my face up to it so I can read it. Poor design but extremely poor if you are older.
