Q: if outside of BT range, does it show on a map where my key is located? that's the feature i want.
A: It uses Bluetooth to communicate. It will show on a map where you last 'saw' it. And if you lose it, it can be found by other Tile users who happen to walk near it. Their tile app privately - without them doing anything, or knowing - reports your lost Tile's location to you. But it doesn't have its own GPS and cellular to know where it is and communicate its location. Like if you lost it in the woods, it couldn't broadcast its own location. It would depend on some other Tile user stumbling within Bluetooth range of it.
A: Hi Ted - Yes, multiple phones/devices can track a single Tile. With the different devices, if they all use the same Tile account information you can see your Tiles on unlimited devices. If the other device or cell phone has the Tile app and have their own Tile account, you can share a single Tile with one other person with the free app. If you upgrade to either our premium or premium protect subscription, you can share a single Tile with unlimited number of other users. If you have more than one Tile tracker you can use all of them with a single subscription!
Q: do you have to pay for the Tile app or yearly fee?
A: You do not have to pay unless you want to upgrade ( for example get free battery replacements or another feature is Tile pays you for the lost item that the device can't find. That's $30 per year. I don't subscribe to that so the only thing I've paid for was the tiles. The device has located my keys many times. Totally worth it for me. I use the lithium 2032 batteries and they last at least a year for me. (The app lets you know when it's a good idea to replace the batteries. )
Q: Will this work on a dog collar to find dog?
A: Yes, but not from too far away. It works directly through Bluetooth, so you or another person in the 'tile community' needs to be near enough to the dog to connect to it.
Q: How many Tiles users are there?
A: not enough to make the device work as you might have expected. Its only as good as the number of tile app installed devices around what you want to track
A: Thanks for asking! Tiles do not interact with each other, and one Tile will not be able to update the location of another. For a location update, your Tile will have to come within Bluetooth range of a device with the Tile app and Bluetooth turned on. Q: Does tile work with apple products?
A: Yes. Our old tiles were great with our phones. These newer ones sporadically unpair from our phones. I’m pretty sure it’s a setting but I haven’t figured it out yet.
