About this product

Arguably their finest album, this follow-up to Opiate showcases Tool at their best, assisted by clean, crisp production, without the muddiness of Aenima. Edgy guitar riffs are complemented by spitting, heavy bass, especially on InchSoberInch and InchCrawl AwayInch. Lyrically, Tool are at their vitriolic best, targeting religious hypocrisy (InchIntolerance,Inch InchSoberInch; always a popular theme), the loss of innocence and it's consequences (InchPrison S*xInch), and deliberate ignorance (InchSwamp SongInch). Henry Rollins makes a guest appearance on InchBottom,Inch which, along with Inch4 Degrees,Inch deals with questions of identity. Undertow is also Tool's most musically adventurous album, lacking the occasionally numbing sameness of Aenima, and with considerably more sophistication than their previous work. Album Tracks 1. Intolerance 2. Prison S*x 3. Sober 4. Bottom 5. Crawl Away 6. Swamp Song 7. Undertow 8. 4 Degrees 9. Flood 10. Disgustipated

    TOOL - Undertow

What I would consider as TOOL's first foray into the mainstream. A must have for TOOL enthusiasts.

Best Tool record in my opinion

This is quintessential Tool. Before they went off the deep end into the whole prog rock thing - trying to fit as many hidden messages in Morse code and timing signatures that sound like a semi-truck traveling down the highway with one broken wheel. If you don't know who Tool is, buy this record and work your way to the present. Then go back and buy the Opiate EP to remember how wonderful they were compared to now. The vinyl pressing is the standard Volcano reissue. Lost my original in a flood and buying back for my library. The band has mentioned reissuing their entire discography on vinyl and remastered (early 2019) but seeing how it took them over 13 years to release their latest record, Fear Inoculum (Aug 30 2019), and they still haven't provided a vinyl release for that (Sept 27th 2019), I wouldn't hold your breath on a new remastered version. Just buy this one and call it a day.

Not a masterpiece, but still fantastic.

Even though there was at least one release before Undertow, this is the album that really caught a lot of people's attention where I grew up. I enjoyed the CD when it first came out, and so when I saw the record I had to snap it up. The recording is crisp, clean and has a level of warmth to it that my CD didn't. The songs are just as good as I remember, even if I can't listen to the album while my daughter is home. If you don't have this on Vinyl, I would recommend it.

The Moon & Antarctica is the third full-length album by American rock band Modest Mouse, first released by Epic Records on June 13, 2000. The album peaked at number 120 on the U.S. Billboard 200 albums chart. The album was praised by critics and fans alike for it's in-depth discussion of dense subject matter, as well as front man Isaac Brock's clever and introspective lyrics. The album was also hailed for being an expansion of the band's unique sound. This was due both to the band's new major tag tools as well as the production of Brian Deck.
