A: I haven't specifically attempted to only leave 5Ghz on by itself but the option to cut off the 2.4Ghz band is available while leaving the 5Ghz on. I have used this device to grab the WIFI and plug directly into a device that was Ethernet only and it worked like a charm is the best that I can confirm.
