Q: Do I add this to my router or is this a substitution to the router in the house?
A: Hi! Theoretically speaking - it can fulfill either of those roles - depending on how you configure it. If you would like to use the Deco as your primary router and Mesh system, simply replace your existing router with the Deco and set it up in Router Mode. However, if you would like to continue using your existing router as your primary gateway, you can set up the Deco in Access Point Mode. Please note; however, that in Access Point Mode, some features of the Deco that rely on Router Mode operation may not be available.
A: I would first ask if he's connecting his ethernet cable to the 2.5G spot on the unit, and then I would ask if the unit itself is actually getting a good enough connection from the main Deco (I'm assuming it's not the main one). Please also ensure that the cable is a proper CAT-6 or CAT-7 cable and not something older or rated for less speed. Also, it might seem like a no-brainer, but make sure the PC is trying to connect using Ethernet, because sometimes it doesn't automatically do it and will continue to try connecting through Wi-Fi. If none of that works, the number I found on Google is 1-866-461-3326.
Q: Does this router have built-in VPN? I.e. to access the router/network while away from home
A: Hi! The Deco AX4300 Pro supports VPN server/client features, including Open VPN, L2TP VPN and PPTP VPN.
A: I think these are good for at least 30'. Newly moved into a compact three-story townhouse and these piggyback really well up the three flights to take care of hardware in office up there. Wifi router is on the first floor. These have been great.
A: Yes, absolutely. You can simply connect the switch to one of the Ethernet ports on the Deco to accomplish this. The Deco AX4300 Pro is designed to provide Wi-Fi connectivity for over 100 devices.
