Create the perfect ambience with this TP-Link multicolor smart bulb. The Kasa Smart app lets you choose from a multitude of colors, and you can give the bulb voice commands through Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant or Microsoft Cortana for hands-free control. The auto white feature of this TP-Link multicolor bulb matches color temperature to natural light patterns.
Q: Will this work on a light right outside my front door?
A: Mine is the carport light and works fine just as long as it has a globe and is enclosed.
Q: Can 2 of these be put in a ceiling light and set up as a group to work with google voice control
A: Almost, you can put them in a light and call them ceiling bulb one, and ceiling bulb two.
Q: Is Google Home or Alexa necessary to use the smart bulb or is the app and WiFi all that is needed?
A: App and wifi are enough. You can adjust the color and the brightness and everything on the app. Google and alexa are just for voice activation.
Q: Can these bulbs be used in a ceiling fan?
A: I am currently using three of these bulbs in my den ceiling fan. They can be controlled individually or as a device group through the Kasa app. I am pleased with their performance in my ceiling fan setup. The app will only control the bulbs, not the fan blades. (just wanted to throw that out there)
Q: Does this work on Apple Homekit?
A: No, the Kasa multicolor smart bulb is not designed for HomeKit compatibility; however, we appreciate your interest in this feature and we'll gladly share it with our Kasa team for consideration.
Q: Will I be able to setup the light on 5ghz WiFi?
A: No, our smart bulbs operate on the 2.4GHz spectrum, primarily for the following reasons: - Does not require the use of a separate “Smart Hub” – our smart devices conveniently connect to your existing WiFi router. - 2.4GHz provides considerably farther range than 5GHz, which allows for more flexible smart device positioning. - Smart devices require very little bandwidth to send and receive information, so the higher bandwidth of the 5GHz frequency is unnecessary. - Most 5GHz capable WiFi routers should also support the 2.4GHz frequency. We recommend consulting your router's documentation to verify whether it has this capability.
Q: Can Alexa change the colors or is that only done by the app?
A: Alexa can change the color, the brightness level, and turn on or off.
Q: Can you contol these lights with a regular dimmer/on-off switch?
A: I dim by using app, but you probably can with a matching dimmer. All dimmers won’t work but the app will tell you which brand to use. I love my bulbs and use with Alexa.
