Smart home subscription finally ran out, making my Zwave setup from my home builder inactive. Needed something free and ultimately universal since I have apple products and alexa products in my home. These switches have support for the new Matter protocol allowing for connection and control directly with my alexa and Apple HomeKit. Setup was extremely easy with the Matter QR code included with the switches. There wasn’t a convenient place to stick the QR code though for easy future use, so i tossed them when I was done with setup. DON’T WORRY! The matter numerical code IS on the front of the switch behind the Decora cover so it can be manually typed in. These switches react instantly through both Alexa and HomeKit. Noticable difference from using a zwave hub to control things before. I installed 9 of these on my Single Pole switches (only 1 switch controls the fan/light). Which brings me to my only gripe; these switches should be 3-way like a lot of the other smart switches on the market. Because they are single pole switches, I had to spend twice as much to get working Matter compatible 3-way switches from Leviton (had to buy the companion switches for them to work). Overall though, I’m extremely happy with these smart switches and would certainly buy them again.

[Employee of bestbuy] This is a great switch if you want to dip your toes in the smart home scene, it supports matter so i was able to add it DIRECTLY to the google home and apple home apps without the need to install any other app or creating a tapo account. If you want to use certain features such as auto off like I did, you will need to set it up in the app though, but you can continue using matter for Apple Home or Google Home or Alexa if you want to. Please do keep in mind. If you want to set up going that route, you should avoid setting up matter until after you have set up in the app. Also, be sure to install the switch correctly before putting the face plate back on as it is pretty tricky to remove it.

Good light switch. Easy to install for me as all the necessary wires were present. Connection was straight forward on Alexa through Matter protocol. Control with Alexa app offered good programmability. I bought 2 units and added a separate face plate for a 2-gang installation. Simple switches that get the job done.

Bought two of these to control my outdoor Christmas lights. Installation was a breeze. If you can wire a standard light switch, you can wire these. Pairing was pretty straightforward using the Tapo app. The lower portion of the switch is illuminated letting you know if it’s on or off.

Bottom Line Up Front: Very economical WIFI wall switch. The look and feel of the hardware is good. Simple pushbutton to toggle on an off. Nightlight "circle" when the switch is off is a thoughtful addition, controllable by app. This paired instantly with the Tapo app. The trouble started when integrating into HomeAssistant. Despite the Matter certifcation, it would not pair with the HA app initially. This caused me to reset it more than a few times, deleting from Tapo app, trying to add to HA. Eventually, it will pair with HA. When installing two of them, neither paired instantly. I suspect that the name of the switch has to be left as default "Smart Switch" for it to pair successfully. It is hard to know what the cause of the pairing trouble was. Once paired, I'm delighted with the switch. I get no drop outs using an Asus AIMesh network. No ghost activations and the hardware has a nice feel to it. Both are on ceiling fans with automations. It integrates with Google Home for voice assistant. Fits in gang boxes nicely. Does require a neutral wire. For the cost, the value is amazing. I use Lutron Caseta elsewhere and this requires no hub (HomeAssistant isn't necessary) and has nice hardware feel on par with Caseta. I would not hesitate to get more, despite the pairing troubles and frustration. At under $15 each, they are more economical most WIFI switches.

I recently installed the TP-Link Tapo Smart Wi-Fi Light Switch in my home, and I'm extremely pleased with its performance and ease of installation. The package thoughtfully includes everything you need for setup, even wire caps, which simplifies the process significantly. There's no need for complicated wiring, making it ideal for DIY enthusiasts. One of the most impressive features is its quick response time. The switch connects to Alexa automatically, seamlessly integrating with my existing smart home system. It responds promptly to voice commands without any noticeable delay. The most notable advantage of this smart switch is the convenience it brings. Unlike the need to buy multiple smart bulbs, the Tapo switch allows me to control several standard light bulbs with just one switch. This not only saves money but also simplifies the smart home experience. In conclusion, the TP-Link Tapo Smart Wi-Fi Light Switch is an excellent choice for anyone looking to enhance their home with smart lighting. Its easy installation, quick responsiveness, and compatibility with Alexa, combined with the ability to control multiple bulbs, make it a standout product. Highly recommended for those looking to upgrade their home lighting system efficiently.

Bought this smart light switch to replace my Wemo smart light switch that is now annoyingly no longer supported. They say Matter enabled devices like these will eliminate that problem from happening in the future, we shall see. One thing I have to note is that when connecting this to Google Home, selecting Matter Compatible device when adding it and scanning the QR code did not work, it could not be detected. So I started over and selected the Works with Google Home option and picked Tapo from the list and this light switch and two Tapo TP-Link outlets I had also just added were all seen and instantly added to Google Home and are all working perfectly, with both the Tapo app and Google Home. One other thing I thought was a nice touch is you can control the little ring light, it displays on the switch itself to make the switch easier to locate, as to when it displays. I think it was really done so you could have the light off at night if it was used in a bedroom and maybe the light bothered you. But it is so dim I doubt that would ever be an issue. However I use it for just the opposite reason because I have it in my dining room. I have it on a schedule so that the little light only comes on at night since you don't really need it during the day. Just the fact that they give you that level of control of such a small thing tells me a lot of thought went into the design of not only the hardware but the controlling software as well. Nice work Tapo.

This single pole smart switch works just as I hoped. Setup was a little challenging as I expected a tight fit in the box (mounted on 2-gang box along side a dimmable switch) but got it done. You must use wire nuts to connect the Line/Load, Neutral, and Ground wires on this switch which takes up more space. The dimmable version allows you to back wire or use the side screw for the Line and Load which saves some space. As with the dimmable version, the switch could be made of thicker plastic and the mounting hole reinforced. Setup was a breeze. The app is easy to use. TP link needs to make a 3-way switch version as nearly all my lights are on 3-ways but for a few like the kids bedroom and some bathroom lights.

Excellent smart switch. I installed this switch in less than 10 minutes to control front porch lights. Works as a timer and on a schedule. Very versatile.

Replaced an older battery-powered timer switch with this, so I can now control my lights from the phone app. I had received a complimentary discount code, so I used it on this - great deal! Relatively easy to install (as long as you are comfortable wiring up home switches yourself, otherwise have a professional do it). Note that the face plate is attached when unboxing. That has to be removed to install in the wall socket. Removing that face plate was a little tricky. You have to pry off two of the tabs holding it without breaking them off - careful, careful! Connection to my Wi-Fi was straightforward, but you have to add it to your system using the Tapo app (the older Kasa app doesn't support this newer device - although you can "move" all your Kasa devices to the Tapo app).

We had some outside lights on a timer that was a complete pain to program. Every time it needed to be reprogrammed (after any power interruption), it was unbelievably difficult: tiny display, pushing buttons to advance thru menus, etc. I finally replaced the old timer with the TS15. It was a breeze to install, and is so easy to set up schedules using the Tapo app. Why didn't I do this sooner!
