Q: Using this device how do I get guide for OTA channels?

A: The Guide is part of the yearly subscription service for the DVR.

Q: Does the DVR playback on your television? Everything I am reading refers to DVR playback on other "smart devices." I am looking for a device that will record and playback network shows for antenna TV.

A: It will playback DVR content on your tv if you purchase the service from silicondust for I think it is $35 per yr. You will also need to setup on a pc with storage so you can save recordings.Or you can get the plex app on a pc or Mac and get a plex pass from plex which is $120 for a lifetime plan then you will need to put the plex app on your tv or say a firetv stick and you can watch everything you dvr.

Q: I already have an HD Homerun Extend tuner, can I add this one to my network and make it 4 tuners instead of 2? Will they work together?

A: Definitely - that is the intent and beauty of HDHomeRun Network Technology. You can add, mix-match, our different tuner models to increase your tuner count, allowing you to View or Record (using HDHomeRun DVR) more programs simultaneously. Cable and OTA / Multiple OTA / or as you suggest - CONNECT + EXTEND giving you 4 tuner and two of them allowing for Transcode features. Enjoy the freedom and flexibility of HDHomeRun

Q: So you have to have high speed internet for this product? This doesn’t work at all without high speed internet? Would like to get this for someone who lives In the country and doesnt but he’d like to record his shows

A: This device is essentially a TV tuner. It is connected to an antenna to receive TV broadcasts just like a TV. It will play those broadcasts on different devices. It does not stream from the internet like Netflix, Hulu, etc so you don't need high speed internet. If you subscribe to their DVR service, you can also get a TV guide that updates TV schedules weekly allowing you to schedule recording TV shows. The TV scheduling part of this device will require an internet connection to update the TV guide and that does not need to be high speed.

Q: I just cut the cord from cable. It was suggested that I get a homerun. Do I need to purchase an ANTENNA and a ROUTER to use homerun? Also, there seem to be many different ones. Does anyone know which to get? I have 2 TV’s and I use my laptop & iPad a lot.

A: The other community answer explained that you need an antenna and router. I want to cover which device is best for you. The two big questions are: 1. how many things are you going to watch/record at the same time? 2. Do you plan on DVRing a lot? If you plan on using a DVR quite a bit and don't want to build your own, the HDHomeRun SCRIBE is probably the best answer. If you like to build stuff or don't plan on recording much the HDHomeRun CONNECT is the answer. From there, you decide QUATRO (4 tuners) or DUO (2 tuners). If it's just you and you aren't going to record much, the DUO is fine. Otherwise, the QUATRO is best.

Q: Looking for a TV recorder. I guess it's called a DVR recorder? I'm not on cable, just use rabbit ears and get the 3 main channels - ABC, NBC, CBS and PBS. I simply want to record shows to see later. What do I need?

A: Your digital HDTV antenna would connect to the HDHomeRun device. You will need a computer or other network storage device to record shows. This is not an all-in-one solution like a Tivo or other DVR system. It requires home networking, an HDTV antenna, the device, itself, an annual subscription to record and a local storage location in your home - like a PC or network storage device. It also require Internet access for setup and account management.

Q: I am wondering, if we do not purchase the yearly subscription, can we still pause, rewind live television, and can we still record programs by setting them manually?

A: I am able to pause and resume without a subscription but in order to record or rewind, I believe you need the subscription. But for $30- $40 for the entire year it may be worth the functionality. But I haven't subscribed yet myself.
