Awesome video and audio quality on 4K. Dolby Atmos was amazing hearing the footsteps on top of my ceiling with my Kilpsch R-41SA speakers mounted on my ceiling!

An action adventure movie that does what it's meant to do, entertain. Like the much hyped mcu movies, it's fun escapism.

This is a terrific movie for entertainment. There are a number of gaffs in it, such as when they enter a tunnel nobody has been in for 500 years and walk alongside some florescent lights. C'mon the makers of the film HAD to know something that obvious. But if you blow that off the movie is a fun watch. I was particularly suprised at Tom Howel's physical talent. First Mark Walhberg took him to the gym and beefed him up. But Tom could really move. I had to google it and see if he was actually doing the acrobatics he does in this movie. And he was. I think a lot of the spiderman manerisms are actually this young man's traits as you see a lot of the spiderman character in his acting. The movie is not realistic but I don't watch a movie like this for realism. I watch a movie like this for entertainment. Face it, if you are looking for realism why would you watch Spiderman?

I've loved this series from the moment I watched my cousin play it on his PS3 back in the day. In fact Uncharted 2 was my first PS3 game. This film matches the tone of those games pretty closely imo. While Tom Holland may not have been my first choice, he does a pretty fantastic job at potraying Nathan Drake. There's even some really fun easter eggs in the movie if you're a fan of the game series. All in all a decent action adventure film akin to movies like Indiana Jones and National Treasure.

Let's face it, most movie adaptations of video games are pretty awful. So when one that is actually pretty decent comes around, it stands out, so that may be inflating my review by a point. The movie does not follow the canonical history of the game characters, but instead creates its own story to get these characters together, basing them mostly on who they are in the games. The plot felt very true to the Uncharted formula, the majority of it being an adaptation of the fourth game. The villains are appropriately villainy, Nate feels like that rogue with a heart of gold type from the game. Tom Holland doesn't quite fit my idea of Nate, just looks and sounds too young, but he does the role justice overall. Wahlberg as Sully also does not really fit my view of the character, and feels like the biggest departure from the game characters that we see. Not bad in the role, just again, not quite who I envision. The rest of the cast does well, and the movie has an over the top ending action sequence that, again, feels much like the games. I enjoyed the movie more than I expected to, enough to actually purchase it.

I'm a huge fan of the Uncharted video games, and I went into this cautiously. My expectations were on the floor. I knew there was absolutely no way an adaptation of such a brilliant video game series was ever going to live up to them. Despite the fact that I never wanted this movie to get made and I was, shall we say, less than thrilled about the cast, even I have to admit that I had a good time with it. It was competently directed, decently acted, and the action sequences felt very Uncharted, particularly the third - and biggest - set piece that involved a couple of pirate ships and some helicopters. I would have liked to see something more original - the movie lifts several things directly from the games, like one action set piece in a cargo plane - but there's a lot here to like, as well as lot of potential for future sequels should they happen.
