VHS's found footage formula is not new, however, the execution is. The movie centers on a group of friends who like to recording their every aspect of their lives including their assaults on innocent and acts of vandalism. One night, they are hired to locate a single video cassette among many in some strange house. Without any specifics, the friends begin viewing video cassettes. Each cassette is a vignette of the many genres of horror from the supernatural, thriller, slasher, ghostly, creature feature even sci-fi. An explanation of how such an eclectic collection of horror and mayhem is left up to the viewer's imagination, as is person who hired the friends to find the cassette tape. What is clear is their unfortunate fate to become a part of the collection.

The characters are deliberately as horrific as the creatures that they encounter. A series of related stories of self-absorbed young victims with little sense of anything beyond themselves is presented in a dark, unsympathetic format. You are left feeling little for the victims except that they ended their days as they lived them; pointless. Well directed and a subtle commentary on the horror of how out culture is evolving, I would strongly encourage you watch...but not on a 'date' night!

This anthology series is a spectacular example of how talented filmmakers can progress the horror genre. Not all of the shorts live up to the best, but they are pretty great.

Well, love horror. Rented this one and loved it. It has some freaky stories. If you don't like shaky first person view movies, you might not like this.

I love how this movie is parted into 6 different anthologies of horror . U get a lol bit of every kind of scare u can get in the genre of horror .

The "found footage" horror movie is a little played out, but this is one of the more creative of the bunch, and has some pretty good scares.

This horror has some great jump scares and gory scenes. I would recommend this movie if you like horror movies.

This one is a tough one to review since V/H/S involves several small features. First off, the found footage thing is getting a little old maybe. I can get the whole keeping a web cam in your room and it records but the whole "Someone is carrying a camera and perfectly captures everything" seems a little been there done that. However I digress because I thought the last feature was actually pretty sharp. I should mention all these little movies are surrounded by guys who go about recording themselves doing some pretty despicable things to girls and selling the tapes. This starts the whole V/H/S thing. Tough part about this is you don't really feel bad for the characters once things start going wrong and this disconnect might have hurt the movie a little.

its about 5 stories in this movie and the 2nd one is the best one. a little creepy

A good anthology type movie with different little stories.

Overall good. This has short stories some better then others. Worth the watch.

I really enjoy anthology type horror movies so the fact that you get so many stories bundled into one is really awesome to me. Not only that but you get a little bit of variety for the sub genres too.

Unique Story, Great Indie Style Film, with a story that keeps you interested

There are a few V/H/S horror anthologies out now, but the first remains the best. Each of these shorts at the very worst is still solid, and at the best is exceptional.

Its a different type of horror movie but it works.

A multiple of recordings thieves come across in an old creepy house. Each recording interesting, especially the last. Check this one out.

I love this format of horror. This is fresh horror stories shot in a pov format that helps bring the viewer into the stories.

this one is way better than the 2nd. if i were you, i wouldn't even waste my time after this one. the 2nd film is so bad. thinking about checking out the 3rd when it comes around though.

This movie is several horror stories combined. If you like horror movies then you will like this.

This movie is not great, but very enjoyable and much better then paranormal activity series.
