Though it suffers from some relatively minor pacing issues, Valkyria Chronicles 4 is a sublime strategy experience that fans of the genre won’t want to miss out on. The engaging, character-driven plot, third-person action, deep customization options, and high replayability make this one an easy recommendation, although pacing issues and cumbersome menu management may make it a little more intimidating to newcomers to the genre. We're also undecided about where it fits in the franchise hall of fame; the original game perhaps just shades it. All the same, we’d recommend you give Valkyria Chronicles 4 a go; this is a strong return to form for the series, and it’s a great entry point for Nintendo fans.

Beautiful canvas graphics, excellent strategy and good story and character development. It may be a little too slow while depicting the story but once you get into the battle is a total win, highly recommended. I'm buying the previous one for switch to compare next year (usually carries better ratings than this one)

As the headline states: if you loved Valkyria Chronicles 1, you'll love this one. They took the all the elements from the original and made a new Valkyria game focused around a different faction in the war, following the same intriguing story from the original game. VC1 was pretty much my fav game and I'm loving this one just as much. Much much better than any of the previos sequels by far!! If you're new to the VC series, you could easily pick this up and enjoy it without ever playing the first one.

I played the demo on the eshop and thought the game had great potential. The game itself is fun but challenging, especially if you want to get A rankings on all of the maps. The characters have great stories and their dialogue is fun. The maps are varied and plenty of strategy. The only issue I have with the game is the clunky menus. It can be annoying to navigate at times.

Valkyria chronicles 4 is a fantastic game with a wonderful story. The story and characters will make you laugh, cry, and scream "oh no" at the top of your lungs when something dramatic occurs. The voice acting is great, the music matches tone, and the graphics are amazing.

I’ve never played the Valkyria series before, so when I finally tried this game out I was pleasantly surprised. Great story, beautiful hand drawn graphics, and unique gameplay had me hooked! A must have for your Switch library!

I like the series and this doesn't disappoint. The new class requires additional strategy but gives more options. The class is also simplified so there is no need to pick and choose anymore.

Even if you haven't played any other games in this series you can start here with no problem. The game is very fun strategy world war 2 like setting with an anime/watercolor aesthetic that really pops on the Switch screen. Characters are done very well and you end up caring about them instead of pointless infantry so you'll really be invested in keeping everyone alive. Great game, one of the best Strategy RPGs out there, easily rivals Xcom.

This game delivered, great story line and fun tactical, strategic gameplay. Definitely recommend picking this game up, does not require playing previous series entries.

While I am new to the franchise, I have heard many good things about this cross between XCom, Halo Wars, and Endwar. I was not disappointed, as I am well into the story, and I haven't lost any interest in it what so ever. The story and characters are charming, and the presentation is unique, colorful, and engaging. If you like this twist on turn-based strategy games, you will love this game! On a final note, no prior experience with this series is required.

If you're a fan of turned based strategy you really can't do better on the nintendo switch. Excellent story and phenomenal gameplay... this is a must buy.

If you're a fan of the past Valkyria Chronicles, you'll love this one as well. The game looks beautiful on the Switch, especially in hand held mode. The story grabs you at the beginning instantly making you wonder what happened in the past.

Haven’t played VC since the first, and VC4 is just as beautiful. Switch version makes for great portability as well!

I love the games in the Valkyria Chronicles series, and this game is no exception. It is a beautiful game to play and quite enjoyable. I have spent many hours playing this game, and even after you beat it, it is fun to go back and try to score as high as possible on all the battles. The first Valkyria Chronicles is still my favorite, but this comes in at a close second and has made several improvements over the first, such as the inclusion of squad stories.

This game is a good mixture of story and turn based strategy, do you want a visual novel Style storytelling with branching story as well as good gameplay then you should be amused.

If you like the original, then you will like this. For any gamer that is into strategy games.

I heard good things about this game, so I had to do some research. I am a big fan of strategy games, and this one is a great addition to my collection of the genre. I am not concerned about graphics, but with this Switch edition, I had no complaints playing in handheld mode or in docked mode. I was waiting to buy this game, so with the Black Friday sale, it was the perfect opportunity.

A very nice looking and unique strategy game. Nice to have it portable too.
