Hypnotised A Journey Through American Trance Music (1992-2002) - FEATURING LEGENDARY PRODUCTIONS FROM LUMINARIES INCLUDING DELERIUM, MARKUS SCHULZ, BT, JES, RABBIT IN THE MOON, SANDRA COLLINS, DEEPSKY, NEIL KOLO & CHRIS FORTIER'S FADE, CONJURE ONE & MANY OTHERS After previous stop-offs in The Netherlands, Germany, The UK and Belgium, May 2025 finds 'Hypnotised' - the country-by-country-hopping history of trance music - reaching American shores. There it explores one of the genre's lesser told yet equally fascinating tales. The fifth album in the series is again compiled by Arjan Rietveld, author of it's encyclopaedic companion book, Hypnotised A Journey Through Trance Music 1990 - 2005. To a significant extent, the American trance scene evolved inside it's own bubble. Ocean-crossing breakout acts were rare, which gave the scene space to develop a distinct sound and identity - one that was driving yet linear, progressive, more tribal, and less focused on the melodic elements that dominated the European landscape. Over time, certain elements of the sound were adapted to suit the unique demands of the legendary U.S. desert raves in Arizona, Nevada, and California. In it's formative years especially, American trance also leaned toward the experimental, which is where 'Hypnotised A Journey Through American Trance Music' begins it's story. Through one album, nine labels and twenty-seven tracks, 'Hypnotised America' combines buried treasures with some of the genre's most iconic works. A must for collectors, genre adherents and crate diggers alike. - After previous stop-offs in The Netherlands, Germany, The UK and Belgium, May 2025 finds 'Hypnotised' reaching American shores. Around the Fur the follow-up to Deftones' passionate, aggressive Adrenaline, sees the California quartet expanding on the sheer rage of their earlier work, adding new, more sinister shades to their already extreme sound. The opening InchMy Own Summer (Shove It),Inch serves as an introduction to the album's sonic theme sinewy guitars and eerie whispers alternate with fast, violent crunch. Sepultura's Max Cavallero contributes guitar and vocals to InchHeadup,Inch while InchMXInch finds singer Chino trading off vocal lines with Annalynn Cunningham, (wife of Deftones' drummer Abe) in an acerbic take on the rock star mentality. Vocal acrobat Moreno attacks a variety of styles his breathy, psychotic recitations sound downright industrial, while the album's calmer, more brooding moments show his gift for haunting melody. Behind him, guitarist Stephen Carpenter's heavy wall of sound is astoundingly muscular, yet inspiringly agile. When Deftones' hellish fury hits full tilt, as it always does on this album, Moreno's voice erupts into screams which are best described as otherworldly, transforming this intense musical firestorm into a hurtling juggernaut of aggression.
