About this product
Live at the Bootleggers captures a moment in time, and a place in history when community was created around the buying and drinking of illegal liquor. Moonshine. White lightening. It was recorded live at a bootlegger's homebase in Fayette County, Tennessee in 1971 at the behest of Lattie Murrell, whom Bengt Olsson and Bill Barth had tracked down to document. Besides Murrell, Barth and William Floyd Davis, the contributors to this record just happened to be spellin' with the same bootlegger that evening;they are unknown voices, arising with glory from the soak of moonshine, and then fading back into obscurity. Album Tracks 1. When a Gal Cross the Bottom - Lattie Murrell 2. Spoonful - Lattie Murrell 3. Good Morning Little Schoolgirl - Lattie Murrell 4. Howlin' in the Moonlight - Lattie Murrell 5. Blues for Mattie Mae - Lattie Murrell 6. Lookin' Down the Road - William Floyd Davis 7. The Capt'n - William Floyd Davis 8. Why Did I Have to Leave Cairo - William Floyd Davis 9. Catfish Blues - Lattie Murrell 10. Rock Me Baby - Bootlegger with Bill Barth 11. Getting That Stuff - Bootlegger 12. Bottle Up and Go - Bootlegger Quartet with Bill Barth 13. He's Callin' Me - Bootlegger Quartet 14. Cummins Prison Farm - Bootlegger

It must have been heaven on earth, when record playing time was limited to only about three minutes per side, as there wasn't enough space for more on a fragile 78 rpm shellack. The majority of these titles was simply designed for dancing and pure pleasure in late 40s and early 50s territory jukeboxes, most of them pressed in relatively small quantities only and good survivors from way back then are scarce today. Enjoy your Shag-, Lindy-, Balboa- or Boogie-dancing with this collection. To tell it with 'The Hipster' InchPut a nickel in the slot!Inch
