About this product

On Røta, her debut album with Berlin Classics, Ragnhild Hemsing presents her Norwegian roots on the violin and Hardanger fiddle, thereby placing her identity and the link to her musical training centre stage. Central to this theme is the relationship between classical and Norwegian folk music and the contrast between the different sounds of the two instruments. Ragnhild Hemsing, in compiling Røta, has recorded works by famous Norwegian composers alongside four different folk melodies for the Hardanger fiddle from her homeland. InchI find it very interesting to combine the repertoire of composers who were inspired by folk music and the traditions of their individual homelands,Inch is how Hemsing explains her choice of works for this album. Ole Bull, Edvard Grieg, Johan Svendsen and Johan Halvorsen are famous Norwegian composers of the nineteenth century, whose music gives her a cozy, reassuring feeling of InchhomeInch. Together with Mario Häring at the piano and Benedict Kloeckner on cello she embarks on a journey through her native country's sound world. All of the composers featured on the album were closely affiliated with their homeland and were in contact with each other, exchanging ideas. Bull, for instance, provided Grieg with inspiration, who in his turn was a very close friend of both Halvorsen and Svendsen. The beauty of Norway, it's characteristic traits and landscape, is palpable; it can be heard and sensed in the music. Grieg's Lyric Suite (op. 54) is a reflection of mystic nature, with reminiscences of quiet nights, hiking outdoors and finally the March of the Trolls. Album Tracks 1. Passacaglia After Handel 2. Norwegian Dance No. 2 3. The Song of Veslemøy 4. Ved Mannejevningen / at the Matching Game 5. The Wedding March of Myllarguten 6. Lyric Suite, Op. 54 7. Bjøllelåtten 8. Kjeringe I Snødrevet 9. Elegie 10. Lyric Piece Op. 12

Various Artists - Cancionero Sablonara - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Among the Spanish sources from the first third of the seventeenth century, the Cancionero de la Sablonara holds a very special place. It was prepared between 1625 and 1626 for a German noble, Wolfang Wilhelm, who held, among other titles of nobility, those of count palatine and duke of Neoburg and who had visited the court in Madrid between October 1624 and May 1625. This aristocratic music lover showed enthusiasm for the secular vocal music he heard at the court and, at the end of his trip, requested an anthology for his personal pleasure; it was compiled and copied with great care and beautiful calligraphy by Claudio de la Sablonara, main scripter-copyist-of the Royal Chapel. The collection contains seventy-five pieces, including Inchthe best songs that are sung in this court,Inch according to the compiler. This important source, preserved at Munich's Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, features poems in Spanish and Italian metric forms. There are fewer examples of the latter merely eight compositions written in liras [six-verse stanzas] and one sonnet. The Castilian forms, on the other hand, are represented by five romances [ballads] without a refrain, twenty-nine with a refrain, eighteen letrillas [lyrical poems], eleven romances with a lyrical poem at the end, two series of seguidillas, and several decimas [ten-verse stanzas]. Album Tracks 1. Entre Dos Mansos Arroyos 2. Desiertos Campos, Arboles, Sombrios 3. No Vayas, Gil, Al Sotillo 4. Ay, Que Me Muero de Zelos 5. Vistiose El Prado Galan 6. Fuese Bras de la Cavana 7. Si Por Flores Fueres 8. Solo, Triste y Ausente 9. La Morena Qye Yo Adoro 10. Quando Sale El Alva 11. Fillis Del Alma Mia 12. Ya Non Les Pienso Pedir 13. Quiera O No Quiera M Madre 14.
