I've always dreamt of a kitchen that's not just functional but a statement of style and modernity. After what felt like endless research and contemplation, I decided on the Viking 36"W Rear Downdraft in stainless steel, and let me tell you, it has been nothing short of a revelation. Installation, which I initially thought would be a daunting task, was surprisingly straightforward. The manual was clear, and though it required a bit of elbow grease, the seamless integration into my kitchen was worth every effort. From the first use, the performance of this downdraft system blew me away. The power it packs in such a sleek package is impressive. It efficiently sucks away smoke, steam, and the stubborn odors of my adventurous cooking endeavors, from searing fish to experimenting with exotic spices. The result? A kitchen that stays fresh, inviting, and free of lingering food smells, no matter what's on the menu. What I especially love about the Viking downdraft is its ease of use. The controls are intuitive, making it simple to adjust the fan speed to match my cooking needs. And when I'm done, it retracts discreetly, leaving a clean line and more space in my kitchen. But it's not just about functionality; this downdraft is a centerpiece that elevates the overall look of my cooking area. Its stainless steel finish and modern design have become a talking point among my guests. Maintenance, a chore I usually dread, has been surprisingly manageable with the Viking. The stainless steel exterior is a breeze to clean, and the dishwasher-safe filters mean I can keep it running efficiently without a hassle. Reflecting on my purchase, the Viking 36"W Rear Downdraft has transformed my kitchen experience. It's an appliance that matches its aesthetic appeal with unparalleled functionality. I've cooked more, hosted more, and enjoyed my kitchen more since its installation. For anyone looking to upgrade their kitchen ventilation system, I can't recommend the Viking 36"W Rear Downdraft enough. It's an investment that has paid off in every way, making cooking a joy and my kitchen a place where everyone wants to be. --- This review captures a personal and comprehensive experience, focusing on the practical and aesthetic benefits of the Viking 36"W Rear Downdraft.

An expensive downdraft and we did have lots of problem installing this unit. First, it was not a direct fit for an older unit that I have that went bad. Then when it arrived, the electronics controlling the unit was out of order and it id not raise up and down. After about a month, the parts came in and was replaced. It took the installer the whole afternoon to install it since there were also some additional issues. The unit looks nice, but very expensive. This is not what I would expect coming from Vikings. However, I have to give Best Buys/Pacific Appliances kudos for their support in the completion of the installation. I would reconsider the unit but do recommend Best Buys for their customer support.

Looks and works great . Very expensive but I guess it’s due to the Viking name.

I am surprised at the great reviews of others. This downdraft does not perform better than the GE Profile it replaced (and that one performed poorly). Suction is NOT great, it will suck smoke only if directly in front of the draft opening. Also, unit is noisy. Called Viking, they referred a service company who said the unit performs well, and the issue was with my downdraft vent under the kitchen. We had the vent cleaned and still poor performance. Viking said they can't do anything if nothing is wrong with the unit. So I am stuck with this expensive ****. You have been informed, potential buyer!

A great product that works nicely with the 600 CFM Interior Power Ventilator. The 18" high chimney rise and the positioning of the opening on the top are very effective in terms of venting vapor, smoke and odor to the outside. The smooth surface of the front panel and the smooth surface behind it are very easy to clean. It is also easy to clean the two filters behind the front panel.

This downdraft is a much upgraded version to the previous model. It's higher, stronger pull, has its own light system and is really quiet. Our old one was out of commission for some months so this is a welcome addition to our new Viking cooktop.
High quality and cool looking. If you want to impress just start this thing up and the kids will love it and your family. Highly recommend bc it takes all the smoke out and nearly goes back down into your counter

Took a while to arrive (as everything these days), but looks good and works without a hitch. Stands up tall, bright LED lights and easy buttons to press.

Smoke disappears before eyes with this retractable vent. Very impressive feature which eliminates the need for an overhead greasy vent which attracts flies.

Actually, I bought the 48" downdraft. Works VERY well, and the light (2 settings) even on the lowest one is very adequate

This item doesn't work on its own. You must buy the blower as well.

This new unit works much better than our old ventilator.
