About this product
This richly rewarding album is Oksana Volkova's first solo album on Delos, though she appeared alongside the late, great Dmitri Hvorostovsky in Delos's GRAMMY®-nominated 2017 of Verdi's complete Rigoletto. Here she delivers powerful, passionate and ravishing performances of (mostly) well-known French, Italian, Russian and Belarusian arias for mezzo-soprano. The composers include Bizet, Thomas, Saint-Sae¨ns, Gounod, Cilea, Massenet and Mascagni; Russian masters heard here are Rimsky-Korsakov, Mussorgsky and Tchaikovsky, alongside a rare treat an arresting aria by Belarusian composer Dmitri Smolsky, whose music is almost completely unknown in the West. Glowing instrumental collaboration, as usual, comes courtesy of Maestro Constantine Orbelian, leading his trusty Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra. Album Tracks 1. Sapho~O ma lyre immortelle 2. Samson et Dalila~Printemps qui commence 3. Samson et Dalila~Mon cœur s'ouvre à ta voix 4. Throughout the year, the Royaumont Abbey has welcomed, along with the Musée d'Orsay, young duets who work on their musical complicity with mélodie and lied undisputed masters such as Véronique Gens or Stéphane Degout, associating visual arts and music. B Records launched a new collection and therefore also joined this beautiful companionship, with a first album which will take you from Schumann to Ravel, from languishing German Romanticism to biting French poetry. The primary purpose of the Fondation Royaumont, which has owned the monastery buildings since 1964, is to conserve and enhance the outstanding heritage site. The foundation was set up to revitalize and develop the historic monument by giving it a cultural purpose as a permanent gathering place for artists. Thanks to the support of it's many public and private sector partners, Royaumont has become a leading international music and dance center. Album Tracks 1. Nöck (3 Balladen, Op. 129. No. 2) 2.
