Best Buy recommends against it as it's too tricky for their installers. But I had it installed by someone else and it's amazing for a convertible type car. Anyone comes with in 6 inches of car it warns them and notifies me. If they reach inside car the alarm goes off I recommend this over the touchy shock sensor that can go off in parking garages or big trucks. This in addition to hood switch makes a nice setup.

For the price and functionality this is the best add on for your car security system you can buy. If you purchase a Viper security system as I did, you should definitely consider this. If you have a convertible this is perfect suited to protect your car when the top is down and you are away from your car. I bought this to replace the original which lasted over 15 years. The fact that the same model is still available is a testament to how solid the product is. And it works perfectly with my Viper alarm. Be careful about messing with the factory settings as it can be set so it is overly sensitive and triggers by rain and small animals if you do. Get the install techs to set the device and I would say it’s better to be conservative. Other than that it does exactly what it is supposed to do.

I'm very pleased with this product! The sensor works great and I feel safe that my Jeep is protected.

I have seven vehicles and I got all of them with Viper alarms because to me it is the best. When you buy it buy them with Best Buy because is something needs adjustment there is a Best Buy anywhere and they will take care of free of charge. Also there are so many additions you can add to it making your property safe without a guard. You will know from you viper is something is going on. The only thing I have not done as of yet is to make it work with a Smart phone. Great product.

I bought this to help deter door dents and to protect my vehicle from people getting too close. It works great except i wish i could tweak the settings myself but for warrantys sake i cant and also its installed inside my dash. But it works great and i have peace of mind that people will back away from my car hopefully.

If you plan on installing this item yourself...good luck! I had it professionally installed and it took several hours but, I am completly satisfied with the results. It is very sensitive at times but does its job well.

This unit can be too sensitive at times but does a good job at pre warning and bringing attention towards your car to would be thefts.

This adds additional internal security to the car. Works well, but integrates nicely soo it doesn't always go off when it shouldn't.

Had this installed on our wrangler for when we go to the beach or around town with the doors and top off. Very sensitive. Had to adjust a couple of times

this is a nice add on for my alarm not really used on suv but help keeps my stuff safer then waite for a window to be broken and then my alarm going off

I just had a proximity sensor installed in my Mazda Miata today to help deter people from stealing when the convertible top is down. The proximity sensor works great! And it warns you when you get close and the siren goes off if you ignore the warning and you get closer. Also Ryan my installer was great and explained everything in great detail.

Gives me peace of mind that when someone gets near my vehicle, it gives not only whoever is near it, but let's me know as well

I was given the option to add this to my car alarm installation. He described on what benifits it would have if I chose it and he wasn't overly pushing the sale. I like the fact I could keep my windows down a little bit so in the summer my car to hot and it will still be protected even if someone was to simply reach in the car. :-)

The unit was fairly easy to install. Just follow the directions. You do need to adjust it to have work properly, otherwise it just goes off all the time.

I bought this for my truck since I travel weekly. It works great. Nice peace of mind.
