A: Yes, the wheels are plastic. They are ideal for most household surfaces but especially on beach sand which is why I purchased this cart. If you need a handy cart to transport your chairs and umbrellas and coolers over the hot powdery sand, this cart is for you.
Q: Does this cart have a firm bottom, or is it just material over an X frame?
A: It has a padded bottom that splits. Each side has a solid insert in the padded section. In the photo I have included, the wagon is not fully opened so you can make out the two sections. The wagon opens and closes in one motion.
