A: I've never used the phone app. I just use the speed control on the arm. You have to purchase a pad (I purchased a bike pad) just like any treadmill so that it protects your floors and adds a bit more shock absorption and also prevents the WalkingPad from moving while in use. I have best buy total so the walkingPad is protected for 24 months.
Q: Can you hold on to the bar while walking?
A: The bar is more for balance. I wouldn't recommend resting your upper body weight while using it.
