I have a desktop and a laptop and occasionally need to travel. This hard drive is lightweight and small but has huge memory. I can save all my files from both computers and toss the drive in my backpack in case I need it on my travels. Great little product.

I use it for back-up storage of my MP3 music files, digital copies of books, and digital copies of DVD movies providing reliable and portable storage of the large volumes entailed. It has been only a short period of time that I have uploaded the data onto the drive but expect from past experience with Western Digital products, I have confidence that their quality control remains superb. Good price, reliable product, cutting-edge portable storage.

WD makes very good and reliable storage solutions for everyone, from novice to the expert users. This is a portable external Hard Disk Drive. I am using it as a secondary backup storage drive. For the peice it is an excellent secondary backup drive for anyone. In short I will definitely recommend this drive.

Transfers are very fast compared to older portable drives thanks to the USB 3.0 data port. With 2 TB of storage space, large files or a large number of files can be stored with worrying about what to save. Software for automated backup is also included, This device also works as external storage for Xbox One. I have also had good luck with Western Digital portable and Network storage drives. No so much with other brands.

I purchased two more of these external hard drives after buying my first a month earlier. They provided the fastest and most reliable storage for my eBooks, my mp3 music files and my wife's recipes. I like having my important information stored in my own personal vault safe and secure. I would highly recommend this product to anyone that wants to assure the safe storage of any important documents or files from this excellent company with very high quality control standards for their equipment.

I have a MacBook Pro, and I was looking into a new hard drive, as I had filled up my previous ones. I ended up getting the 2 gb version and reformatting it to work with time machine. Much cheaper than other versions specifically for macs. Haven't had any problems, it's fast and reliable. For the price, you definitely couldn't go wrong.

I have tried many external hard drive's in my day, all of which is use with my MacBook Pro. Of all the brands I have tried, Western Digital has consistently been my favorite. This hard drive is specifically formatted for Macs. The only reformatting necessary is if you need to partition it. For example, to create one for media files and one for a Time Machine back up. This can be can using the Disk Utility application. The drive needs to be erased, and at that point and you need to select the GUID partition map. Now you can partition the newly formatted drive into as many segments as you like. Western digital includes a few programs on the HD that so far I've found to be useful, with features like the ability to import files directly from cloud-based services such as Dropbox etc. I purchased this hard drive to replace the Seagate drive that I had been using for the last few months. But one day it died on me for no apparent reason. I highly recommend any Western Digital external HD, but if you're looking for something portable to use with your Mac, this is the one to get.

The passport external drive is easy to set up and is working great with my son's Xbox One. In addition it comes with encrypted security at no additional cost unlike the Seagate hard drives which do not offer that protection during purchased or on their website. I have used these hard drives for years and they have never failed. I recommend them you will not be disappointed

I have always used External WD drives for backup solutions . I recently expanded my storage from 1TB to 3TB . This HDD comes bundled with some basic tools which some people would like to use for basic backup options . It runs quiet and fast . It comes packaged with a sata cable and minimal package. The design of the device is nice and compact . There is no excessive heating when transferring data . The HDD just warmed up while moving 1TB of data . Given this is a spinning disk its quite an improvement from my previous drive . I purchased it with the Best buy protection plan which i recommend to all users . I back up my data in multiple places which should be the norm if you are not using offline raid storage . And i have the hardware covered though BB protection plan .

I bought this for a friend who is not computer savy and had never backed up her laptop. Her computer was 3 years old and used for work (YIKES). It was plug and play, despite the fact that she was using a USB 2.0, due to backwards compatibility, which was an important aspect of my recommendation. We were able to get her computer backed up quickly enough - creating a full system image and setting up an incremental backup schedule. I have several of these models, in various GB's in my arsenal, as we have laptops and desktops, with kids in school and work computers to maintain. I have yet to have one fail in the two years or so that I have been adding them into our collection, which is why I keep coming back to WD over Seagate (sorry Seagate).

This is an exceptional External Hard Drive and with the 2T amount of data storage, it easily copies and stores my data while also giving me the added security of being password protected! I absolutely love the "My Passport" external drives. They are simple to use and as I previously stated store plenty of data!
