Love my new WD HD! With it coming pre-formatted for MAC OS, I went from unboxing to MacBook Pro backup configuration in less than 3 minutes. It’s whisper quiet and doing its thing in the background. So glad I upgraded to this drive that needs no external power supply…beautifully simple!!

I capture a lot of images…as a photographer I’m confronted with the issues, such as culling photos, backing up and the finished portrait (better not lose those). I find this Xternal HD a must. It has proven to be a lifesaver!

Bought in Oct 2023 and moved years worth of stuff onto it. Haven't used it since March 2024, then plugged it in today, Sept 7, 2024, and got a popup saying "macOS can't repair the disc" and that I need to reformat it as soon as I can. I won't be doing that, since I can't trust this piece of garbage. Going back to Seagate, transferring this drive, and then I'll try to get my money back for the inconvenience.

Had the hard drive less than a month and it went bad. The light would come on and I could hear the motor working in it but my computer never recognized it. This is the 3rd one I’ve purchased and they all did the same thing. Used on MacBook Pro 2015

These drives have a problem where they will show "zero" files on the drive, even though your data is on the drive. (see pics) They will not unmount to run disk first aid, and you must either restart your machine or do a forced eject. Once you plug the drive back in, your files will be visible and the drive can be written to and works normally... for a while. They it happens again. I'm running a new iMac with Ventura. WD has no answers for this known problem, nor does Apple, and they both say to take the drive back to Best Buy and get a different brand.

As a professional photographer, I need something reliable that will handle my work flow. I love this. I was in a pinch and bought the smaller one because I filled up my large one and couldn’t wait for the larger one to be shipped. I love both of them. Definitely prefer the ultra over the regular.

Before I purchased this product I did a lot of research. I wanted something small with a lot of storage available for my growing needs. At the same time I wanted something easy to use. I wanted something I could plug in, set up and use Time Machine to automatically back up for me. WD - My Passport Ultra for Mac does all of this! It's exactly what I was looking for. Easy to use. I definitely recommend it!

Very fast transfer speeds and small footprint. Works perfectly with my MacBook.

I bought this hard drive because the new base Macbook Air really doesn't have enough storage. I could either pay $200 for a little more built in or buy this and have a lot more for less. I wanted a USB-C hard drive for fast transfer speeds. This was the cheapest of this size and reads/writes fast and comes with software to set a password on the drive, so it was exactly what I was looking for.

I bought this drive to replace another external hard drive that failed early this year, a 2TB Seagate WirelessPlus, which I always had trouble connecting to. I have had no issues with the Passport working on my iMac, which is now running Big Sur 11.2. The drive works flawlessly. Very easy to set up and use. Highly recommend. I attach 3 external drives as backups: one, WD 1TB MyBook Studio, is synced to iMac TimeMachine--I have had that drive at least 8 years and it has never caused any trouble; two, 4TB My Passport Ultra for Mac 4, which has worked flawlessly since purchase. And now I am replacing a Seagate 2TB Backup Plus Portable drive, which will not boot on my iMac or my wife's PC running Microsoft, as my third external drive with another My Passport Ultra for Mac.T

Bought this external drive without much research as I was in a pinch to get my MacBook Air backed up quickly. The WD My Passport was ready to go right out of the box, no issues. I did end up partitioning the disk to set some space aside for TimeMachine backups and the rest for videos and pictures. I was having issues with my existing external drive and this thing crushed the entire backup within an hour. It's super quiet, runs cool and does exactly what its suppose to do...and it looks great too! The silver color matches Apple MacBook products perfectly. Also, the form factor is small and easy to throw in my backpack for use while on the road. If you're looking for an external drive for you Mac, don't look any further...buy this drive!

I was struggling trying to edit multiple videos for multiple YouTube channels because of running out of space on my laptop. I don't even keep the video files on the computer once they are posted, but the render files were making it difficult for me to work on editing more than one at a time. This thing has made my life so much easier! Now all my videos are backed up on this so I am not in danger of accidentally deleting them because of needing more space and also I'm able to save the finished product of the video on here until I'm 100% sure I'm ready to delete it. I am in no way a professional video editor, but this was very worth the money to support my little hobby. Plus it's super easy to use. Like another reviewer said...just plug and play!

I needed a back up device that had enough memory and that would seamlessly work in the background to create backups through Time Machine on the Mac. It does just that. Very easy to set up and I can hear it when it starts to back something up, so you have that assurance that things are working properly.

I use this WD drive as a backup for my MacBook Air and my wife's iMac. It is very easy to use, small, and reliable. I have made 4 partitions on it for different uses. Both the WD backup and the Apple TimeMachine both work with it.

I've used WD Passport HDs for years and this has been one of the best so far in terms of speed and ease of use.

Easy to use right out the box. Plug and play. Waa able to back up 250gb on my mac in a matter of 20-30 mins. Have lots of family photos , videos. Although I have the icloud and google photos , you can never have your precious memories backed up enough.
