When it comes to HHD's Western Digital Stands out. WD RED is one of the best only being topped by WD Black. Their products are reliable, well made. Yes, Yes I know things happen. I had one fail on me. Oh! wait my bad, that was my Seagate. My WD is still working and it's broken at the SATA connection, for over 8 years. So yes, very well made.

In my opinion, this drive is the industry standard by which other drives are compared. When one of my drives failed after several years of service, I replaced it with a new Red. It was plug and play in my Synology NAS server.

Drive installed and operates as expected within my Synology 2-bay RAID 1 NAS. Ran benchmark tests with Synology NAS tools, and the drive performs as advertised. Very pleased.

Replaced the dead 500GB HDD in my TiVO BOLT w/this unit (after a bit of case modding and adding an external power supply). Works great, and no issues so far.

Ordered two of these bad boys for my QNAP NAS. Replaced two older drives that were starting to fail (MyCloud drives) might purchase another to fill my NAS drives.

I have used many hard drive brands over the years but have always considered Western Digital to be the best brand overall. Other brands have resulted in too many failures to be acceptable. I have only had one WD hard drive out of a few thousand to fail unless it was just ancient. The Red Plus 4TB is the best value around. It appears to be plain and simple on the outside, but it is the inside that counts. This drive runs quiet and relatively cool given that its job is to run 24x7. I would definitely recommend this drive, even if you have to pay a little more for it over other brands. You won't be disappointed!

Excellent drive with a lot of capacity that has proven to be reliable in my NAS setup.

The Western Digital Red drives have been a solid, go to for storage for a long while. Bought this one, installed it in a new PC quickly and in no time had it on line. With 4 GB it is an archive drive for me with tons of backup and storage data. Best of all I am comfortable that it is safe and reliable. Recommended.

[Employee of bestbuy] Bought a few of these for a dedicated plex server build I built. I’ve had these in my server running 24/7 for the last 1-1/2 years with no issues so far. Definitely use at least these nas drives or higher for use in a server.

Using this in a QNAP NAS. Sits there and does its job with no complaints. No issues thus far!

Have 2 of these in my System at the Moment. Everything was good to roll. Installed Booted, Formatted. Been running for couple weeks. I run a constant Plex Server and music Audio Station off these drives. They are on pretty much all day everyday. Not Sure if I needed a NAS drive or not, but they were on sale. I actually purchased 2 blue drives just to sync to these drives so my backups are good as well. 4tb's went kind of quick, should of probably went with the 8tb but the price was better per GB on the 4tb drive. Either way very happy.

A lot of storage for very little money. I am very satisfied with my purchase. I partitioned it as two drives, one for my music and one for my videos and pictures.

I bought several of these to install into an older enterprise server NAS. They are exactly designed for this purpose. The price was right and they work flawlessly.

Great drive. Hasn’t failed yet. Was a replacement nas drive for a failed Seagate.
