Good adaptation of Hal Moore’s book. A good history lesson for younger people that know too much about our involvement in Vietnam

A great movie to enjoy with a love one bad side it did not include digital copy

This movie portrayal of the Vietnam War is a good as it gets. Excellent performances by Mel Gibson, Sam Elliot, Greg Kinnear & especially Duong Don and his role as a lieutenant colonel leading his Vietnamese forces against Mel Gibson's Soldiers.

This is a war film that I think is under rated and often missed due to the many war films of the 90s. It isn't the best but is in the top 10 war films of its decade. Pick it up for your collection.

This movie is not for everyone. There are war scenes that are graphic, which is the reality of situations like the conflict in the Ia Drang Valley, Vietnam. I had watched the movie several times, and never lost the emotional attachment to all the soldiers' lives that were lost in that first major battle between the U.S. Army and the PAVN with the Viet Cong on 14 November, 1965. It also brings in emotions of some families with soldiers involved. The ambush at LZ X-Ray under the command of Harold G. Moore was short. Only a 2 day fight, but watching the movie gives you the perception it was much longer by immersing you into the soldiers and pilots' feelings and thoughts. It also also touches (lightly) on how the command of the enemy may have functioned. Great acting. Great cinematography. This movie reminds you of what others have sacrificed for us today. **Remember your Veterans** NOTE: A book by the same name, written by Harold Moore and co-authored by Joseph Galloway (1992) is also a good read if you want to find out more on this subject. A follow up book was written in 2008 called "We Are Soldiers Still".

I grabbed this movie on Sale good price. I haven’t seen this movie but will soon. Mel Gibson is a great actor as my favorite.

"We Were Soldiers": a 2002 War film based on a true story of Lt. Col. Hal Moore during 1965 leading his men into the Ia Drang Valley against fierce NVA Vietnam troops fully surrounded and ambushed. It was one of the most accurate and event depicting films about the Vietnam War that I have seen next to Platoon and Apocalypse Now... The story is about commitment, courage, and sacrifice that lead to many of the sodliers in this battle to receive the Medal of Honor. One of Mel Gibson's finest performances. The special features are awesome and this film hit home since some of my family fought with honor and a couple tours of duty during Vietnam at that time. An emotional roller coaster that showed the true feelings and results of the men who fought and stayed in a place with a funny name with people who had yellow skin. You couldn't tell where the enemy would come from next. "They heard the hum of our motors, they counted the rotors, and in the end they were right. They all went down together, like brothers in arms they were..". They fought for the men next to them and not the politicians..

I was in the military & this is one of the best movies ever, I love it & recomend it

MG is a great director/ producer/ writer/ actor, all his films are amazing!

There are like a billion Vietnam War movies out there. Please skip them all and watch this one. Adapted from the book, we are taken through the journey these brave young men went, the hardships, and ultimately their victory. What I like about this film is that you not only get to see the struggles our service members go through, but you also gets to see the spouse that while often forgotten, also endure the uncertainty of their love ones. Please pick this film and watch it. One of Mel Gibson's best performances. The film varies from the book as they always do, but if you enjoy history and like war movies this is a must own.
