This is the third Adventure Music by longtime friend and artist Weber Lago - and our third volume in the popular Adventure Music Piano Masters Series. Volume 3 is the follow-up to Weber's Latin Grammy nominated Live at Caramoor project with fellow Brazilian pianist Jovino Santos Neto. Volume 3 was recorded live on the famed Fazioli F-228 Concert Grand Piano at UCPAC in Rahway New Jersey with no overdubs or editing. This recording features a selection of new original compositions as well as several that were spontaneous compositions created at the moment of the recording. Lago has recorded and performed with great jazz luminaries such as Moacir Santos Paul McCandless Ali Ryerson Kenny Stahl Charles Loos Marcia Maria Alex Acuna Ricardo Peixoto Alphonso Johnson and Adventure Music artist Claudia Villela. Lago is also an experienced educator. In that role he travels constantly to give clinics and workshops in different parts of the globe. This CD celebrates the special moments of 'A Brazilian Wind', the seventh in a series put on by the Brazilian Memory Project, which happened in November 2004, at SESC Pinheiros Theater in Sao Paulo, Brazil. This endeavor, selected by the Petrobras Cultural Program, United, in a rare artistic celebration, more than two hundred and fifty musicians from every walk of the Brazilian wind instrument universe; from symphonic and chamber formations to traditional Folk groups; including soloists from all of the authentically Brazilian genres; all representing different tendencies, paths, and cultures. A considerable part Brazil's trajectory of composers and instrumentalists, both historical and contemporary, is contained in the audio and video recorded during those nights of intense music. Almost all of the arrangements on this CD, the first in a series of three have never been heard; they were made for Brazilian classics and for works composed by the participating musicians themselves. These musicians are revered in their solos and in the way they wove into the diverse ensembles of woodwind and brass. To compose the rhythm and harmony accompaniments, which include a string quartet, we invited musicians who could embrace the diversity of languages and styles present in Brazilian music. The timbre and resonance of each instrument clearly establishes what possibilities the artist has when playing it. Whether the instrument is a flute, a clarinet, a saxophone, a trumpet, a trombone, a bassoon or an indigenous flute, the artist is the one responsible for extracting the individual sound of each one. The recording of this Chanson du vent is a celebration of Adolphe Biarent. This greatly neglected composer emerged from the shadows thanks to three album releases by Cypres. The cycle of Huit mélodiesfor mezzo-soprano completes this process aiming as it does to highlight an exceptional musical personality through world premiere recordings. Such an action can only work when based upon the total dedication of thoroughly committed performers who enhance a program inspired by the musical orientalism in vogue at that time.
