This compactor replaced an older one that was out of style in the updated kitchen. The drawer opens smoothly with your foot; easy to close by hand or with a leg nudge. The operation noise is about the same. The Best Buy delivery team was great, on time, clean and respectful of the floors! They took away my old compactor. This compactor was chosen because the controls are exposed and the stainless styling.

I haven’t received it yet, it’s on back order. Delivery has been rescheduled 4 times already.

Sadly I had to return it but only because our existing cabinet would not accommodate it. I've had a compactor in my kitchen for at least 30 years and was so surprised when our builder did not offer this an option. I consider a built-in trash compactor in the kitchen an absolute necessity like a dishwasher or oven. It decreases the amount of nagging I have to do with my husband. Sadly, I had to return the item for now until I have a cabinet that will accommodate it. My other kitchen appliances are all Whirlpool so that is one of the reasons I selected this particular compactor. Really looking forward to purchasing it again once my additional kitchen cabinets are completed. Advice-Request Best Buy's free measuring before purchase.

My new trash compactor is the best. It is super quiet and the amount of trash that fits in the bag is crazy. I also love that the drawer tips for easier removal of the full bag.

Had our previous Kitchen Aid for 14 years before it stopped working properly. This one which cost over $900 stopped after less than 3 months. Getting a hold of Whirlpool for service was not easy. On hold 45 minutes. The start button is not working. I do not like the button compared to the knob that you turn to start the compactor on the Kitchen Aid model. It is more noisy than the Kitchen Aid that was 14 years old. I would spend the extra 300 for that one after this experience. Appliance man sent by Whirlpool was able to get it working and he is installing new switch this week as the fix is temporary. I hope the new switch lasts way more than one year! I hope for their sake this is isolated experience.

Bought this to replace 20 yr old GE compator that had finally quit running. This compator is a dream can make a weeks worth of trash seem like nothing. compacts very well, runs very quiet. Great product and has a very sleek design

I purchased this based upon the reviews and my previous compactor was also a Whirlpool. I remodeled my kitchen and replaced this compactor only because it was the wrong color. When I pulled the old one out it was still working just fine and it was original from the late 1980's. I am hoping this one is just as good!

This Whirlpool Trash Compactor worked great for the first 18 months but now has started making a banging sound when the Plunger returns to the top and will not turn off. I have to physically turn the machine off. I would expect a whirlpool product to work longer without problems. This unit cost $1200. big ones.

I was disappointed that it was not a 'finished' on top and sides product, however it was listed as 'under counter' AND the more important point is that it is very quiet and very effortlessly closes when you shut it. It fills very full and container is very heavy when full, very satisfied thus far. (Have had for several weeks, look forward to many, many years of workability, excellent looking product.

Love it, so easy to use! It is very quiet, and I only have to take out the trash once a week!!!

I am not extremely happy with the trash compactor’s design and I probably would not have purchased it if I had the opportunity to see it at the store. In fact I would have purchased the more expensive Kitchen Aid.

Unfortunately the warranty from manufacturers is 1 year. Mine broke exactly 13 months and 1 week later. Additionally, I tried to get a service person from whirlpool and they won't service in my location. this is an expensive machine to only get a little over a year of use out of. Im extremely disappointed. I Had to wait almost a month to get it in the first place, so technically I think I am within a year of owning it, but they dont care about that, only the purchase date. How it isn't functioning: After compacting, it won't shut off, starting thumping loudly, the whole machine jumps up and down, sounds like it is going to blow up, smells like it is going to combust in flames. sound safe for your family? I think not. ~Yours truly, and extremely disappointed customer. do yourself a favor and go to a local company and spend a little more money on a compactor, it will be worth it. (I just spent $100/month and now have to purchase another)

The appliance is top notch and will last forever. The best part are the looks which are streamline. The compactor also does a pretty good job of not over crushing items which is nice.

Got it as an open box product at an awesome price. The only thing I don't like is that it does not have an over pack feature. However you can just pack it down and then turn it off, works the same.

Very pleased! Motor is so much quieter than old one I had. I wish it would compact lower than it does--guess I have to get used to when I should run it.

It took a while to get the compactor, but it's installed and working great! We had one before and felt we could not do without it now. Seems to operate just like the old one. I hope it lasts as long as the compactor we replaced it with. Looks great and was a perfect fit. The only thing we encountered were a few welding burrs on the inside of the trash bin. I filed them down smooth so they would not tear the trash bag... just a minor thing.

The trash compactor is great. However, I needed to buy a stainless steel cleaner to remove spots from the front.

Purchased to replace a Kenmore that is 22 years old and needed repair. This unit works, but is noisey, flimsy, and don’t care for the push button design.

Would have liked to see that it pauses after compacting instead of going straight back up
