Love this range hood with 3 speed fan and led lights.

I bought this to replace a 30+ year old GE Spacemaker. Thankfully, the previous holes in the wall matched up to the rear fan exhaust. Unfortunately, that was the only thing that went smoothly with the installation. Skip down to the pros/cons section if you don't want to read my long tirade! First of all, I should be clear that I have never installed a range hood before. Honestly, the product packaging made it seem like the FIT system made installation a simple three step process (hang brackets, align hood onto brackets, secure brackets) . There were no installation instructions included with the unit. I quickly found if you were to follow just the steps listed on the box, your hood would be dangling at the front! I was able to find a manual on Whirlpool's web site (http://www.whirlpool.com/digitalassets/UXT5230BDS/Installation%20Instruction_EN.pdf) which went into more detail. I did run into some more problems with installation- namely I was having trouble removing the steel punchout for the wiring - it seemed to not be perforated like the other punchouts (like I said, I've never done this before). I contacted Whirlpool's support line and explained my problem. They told me to contact a professional and disconnected. Ugh. Anyway, I eventually was able to remove the punchout although in doing so I damaged the top of the hood (not a huge deal I guess, since it no one will see it anyway). I had to bring in another person to help me mount the hood to the wall. On my first attempt, I didn't hold the hood up enough when I was fiddling with a screw- the hood drooped in the front which bent the rear supporting FIT brackets. Now all that is over, the hood works great. The halogen lights are very bright and are great for illuminating my stovetop. The exhaust fan has three settings - at the lowest setting it is fairly quiet. At the highest setting, it is much louder- not overly loud, but loud enough that you would need to raise your voice a little to talk over it. But it moves a LOT of air! It really does the trick for flushing out cooking smells you don't want lingering (like sauteeing onions!). Pros: Bright lamps Strong fan Lightweight Very sleek in appearance Cons: Lack of installation instructions Need to purchase a power cord separately if you aren't direct wiring If you're an idiot like I apparently am, contact a professional for installation.

We are very pleased with our purchase here, we looked at many much more expense units as we wanted to make sure we made a purchase we didn't regret. We are are pleased with this. The lighting is nice and bright, covers the our entire cook top brightly. The noise level is good on low, only wish it was a bit quieter on the medium and high settings but I guess that would have cost us $500+

Great fit, fairly easy installation. The lights (2) provide excellent illumination. The fan really only works on high and us quite noisey.

I bought this as an opened box item which said "like new". It arrived and has some mild-moderate blimishes. That's no big deal, it still looks pretty good. The lights are very bright, but they put off a fair amount of heat which kind of concerning. My biggest problem is the fan, it moves a lot of air, but man is it loud. If those things don't bother you, go for it!

It looks really sleek & it remove the cooking steam fast.. Built in lights make it so easy to see what I am cooking even with the kitchen lights off.

Purchased this as an open box item. Over all it's nice but I don't know if I would have spent $325 for it at full price. I do like that it can be used with or with out external ventilation. The two 40w halogen lights are crisp and bright. The fan is pretty quite on low and medium. Definitely louder on high, but it moves some serious air. Still sounds pretty solid thought.

the light is nice and bright. The three speed fan is quiet on low. Like that no visible manufacturer logo is visible since this hood was different brand than all other appliances

Only needed 2 people to fix it to replace an older whirlpool range hood, ducts were compatible. Low fan noise, bright halogen to light up cooking area.

I like the range hood. It works very well. It's a great-looking product and was easy to install. The only drawback that I found is the higher fan speeds are loud. Also, I was told it came with a charcoal filter. It does not. Best Buy does not carry this product and you'll have to purchase it elsewhere.

I live in an apartment, so I cannot vent to the outside. This hood does an excellent job of sucking up any smoke. It runs a little noisey on full speed setting, but I'm happy it's doing its job.

I wanted a Whirlpool range hood to match the other Whirlpool appliances we were purchasing, which meant I only had a few options to choose from. I read the reviews for the Whirlpool range hoods and chose one that was moderately priced, but still powerful and quiet. We are very pleased with the sleek appearance as well as its great operation in our new kitchen. The only thing I would have preferred is LED lights instead of halogen (they are not as energy-efficient and they get hotter.)
