I bought my whirlpool top loader in January. Reviews said it was noisy, but the store sales person who I have bought items from before assured me it was one of the best washers and not too noisy. We had it installed and it was noisy. We kept hearing this loud banging sound. I looked at it while this was going on and discovered the sound was from the hose banging against the wall as water emptied after the wash cycle. The hose is thin and light. I stapled some foam to the wall and twist tied the hose to it. Now the machine makes less noise than my dishwasher. My wash comes out cleaner than my old front loader. Very pleased. I may ask a plumber to replace the hose with a sturdier one. But right now all is well.
