The Whistler TRX-2 Digital Scanner is a powerful desktop/mobile police and radio scanner with helpful features that make scanning fast and simple. Canadian and US databases are stored internally on the MicroSD card, providing access to comprehensive radio data without the need for Internet access. The TRX-2 is designed to bundle and map stored objects, giving you complete control when grouping objects and selecting groups for scanning. Its internal storage system saves up to 200 scanner configurations that are easily recalled in the field on the radio's keypad. This simplified keypad and display features familiar scan, pause, skip and navigation controls. The mobile scanner features programmable alarms that alert when certain objects are nearby based on user programming, and the tri-color LED displays thousands of custom combinations to indicate specific types of activity or activity on particular channels. The digital radio scanner records received objects and audio and is capable of playing back recorded content along with time and date stamps with its powerful built-in playback system. The system allows you to transfer data to PC for playback and archiving. A convenient alarm feature lets you program the scanner to turn on and begin recording at a pre-set time of day. The TRX-2 has predefined search ranges, so it's easy to find activity in your area and it sweeps and automatically tunes to nearby transmission source frequencies. It also has access to storm spotter network frequencies, so you're able to monitor up-to-the-minute storm information even before it's announced on the news. This desktop scanner has a built-in discriminator output that provides raw discriminator signal to third party decoding software without risky modifications, and it automatically detects and masks encrypted voice audio. The unit is sleek, slim and compact, and it has a textured finish for durability and easy one-handed operation.
Q: I have two questions what is the frequency range and how many channels
A: I am able to answer one of your questions out of the two, as far as frequency range: 25.0000 ~ 54.0000 MHz 108.0000 ~ 174.0000 MHz 216.0025 ~ 512.0000 MHz 764.0000 ~ 781.9968 MHz 791.0000 ~ 796.9968 MHz 806.0000 ~ 823.9875 MHz 849.0000 ~ 868.9875 MHz 894.0000 ~ 960.0000 MHz 1240.0000 ~ 1300.0000 MHz Second question you had about how many channels, I assume you mean memory capacity? The scanner uses an object-oriented system of storing frequencies which is different than most other scanners. Using the EZ-Scan software to program in frequencies automatically from the RadioReference database, it auto populates and categorizes anything in your area, depending on if you chose to populate your scanner by city, county, or zip code. Having used this scanner myself for about 6 months now, I have never seen a hard limit on the amount of frequencies I can program in here, other than the fact there are 200 available 'scanlists' which can be programmed to include certain or favorite frequencies you may have for fast reference or to scan specific ones and not others, as you specify. I believe you are only limited to the amount of memory slots relative to the size of the SD card you use with the TRX-2, since it stores everything on that SD card. It comes with a 4GB chip by the way. I have programmed in all 3 counties in the state of Delaware and have almost 2,000 memory slots filled up and it just creates room for more, as long as it fits on the SD card. But of course, the more frequencies you have active the longer it will take to scan through everything and you might miss some transmissions if it takes 4 minutes to scan through the whole run. You can always disable scanlists or skip channels that are out of your range and area. I hope this is helpful to you.
Q: is the whistler trx easy to program
A: Very easy to program. Enter what you want to hear and it works
A: undefined
Q: Will the scanner come programmed
A: undefined
Q: Will this scanner pickup b I th digital an anslog
A: undefined
A: Yes, but recommend the Uniden SDS100 or SDS 200 so it can scan CAPacity Plus DMR because some use this type of system.
Q: WILL IT PICK UP CALLS IN THE CANTON OHIO AREA
A: According to the Radio Reference Database website, there are quite a few transmissions in Stark County, Ohio that can be picked up by the TRX-2. The same is true also specifically for Canton, and Canton Township. Source: https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?ctid=2115
