A: Subscription is not mandatory. The camera can still work and store the video on SD card in the camera. However of course that makes it easy for intruder to remove the video. Also the human detection is not included in the free option. You can play with the sensitive settings to try to make it detect people but not small pets for example. I think I managed to do that it detects people but not our cat. The camera is kind of picky on the SD cards. I had a newer 128 GB Samsung SD card and the camera does not recognize it. But my old 2GB SD was recognized right away. Not sure how frequent this issue is.

Great for the price
Easy installation, app usage, and adding people to access the camera. Great for the price and subscription is cheap. I bought it just to keep an eye out on the cars and front yard. It works perfect for that. You can customize the notifications to each user as well. Good quality in the day and night. Only thing is that the notifications arent always correct. It will say its a person for a car, my trash can is a person, or my window unit is a package. I also have to reset it about once a week becuase it will stop recording and notifying.

Decent camera for the price.
Good camera with a good quality picture recording and tracking. Pan and tilt works fine, sometimes would try and track tv reflections when left on for pets. Mine did not survive a 4ft drop so not super durable. Overall good value for the price.
