Door bell upgrade. My home is now smart!

Wyze has always been leading with price and tech. This gets the job done and 2x better than v1 door bell, it integrates very nice with the existing door bell chime. My new construction home did need a new door bell transformer(higher power) to be added, simple basic high electrical work at the breaker box. This is almost easier to add this doorbell than adding a true camera with power. If your cost conscious like me the sd card option is great for playback, always recommend sandisk max endurance with continuous recording.

This camera is awesome, you can adjust the settings on the sensitivity and box in zones that you would like to see that way if your porch has a view of the road, you don’t have to get notified every time a car passes. Also will detect differences between a pet and a person which has come in handy in the past when I had a dog that does not belong to me on my front porch. The warning was very useful because I have a newborn and it was two large stray dogs!! Thankful for this camera!

Install was simple and works great. My WYZE doorbell stays online and has a solid connect. The picture clarity is very good and i like the onboard 24/7 recording via sdcard so the doorbell requires no monthly subscription and works better than my Ring doorbell.

I chose this doorbell because it is wired in and will ring my existing old-school doorbell chime. That I have other Wyze products was an influence too. I also like that it has a SD slot so you are not totally dependent on the company's service. It replaced a 1st-gen Ring and the Wyze has better and quicker video. Installation went as expected. It has an included converter that has to be installed in the indoor chime itself, as well as the doorbell outside. The setup has worked well since installation. Very clear images! I am still working out how to set the motion detection. I often have captures where there is apparently nothing to detect.

Added the doorbell camera when I had $20 in Best buy credit that was gonna expire soon. Wanted to add it to my existing Wyze setup. Though getting the camera set up was a little shaky getting the camera to read the QR code, once it scanned it the setup was easy and has been working since.

Piece of crap. Only does video on doorbell press. I got an SD card and it still won't allow video like my garage camera will to SD. It isn't a setup thing either, but the app. Unless it was already crapping or, because now it won't connect to Wi-Fi and won't factory reset.

1. Troubleshooting the Video Recording Issue
If your Wyze Video Doorbell v2 is only recording video when the doorbell is pressed, here are some steps to ensure proper functionality:
Check Motion Detection Settings:
Open the Wyze app and navigate to the doorbell’s settings.
Go to Event Recording and ensure Motion Detection is enabled.
If motion detection is working, you can also enable Smart Detections for specific AI-based recordings.
Verify Event Recording Schedule:
In the doorbell’s settings, go to Event Recording > Schedule.
Ensure All Day is toggled on.
Adjust Detection Sensitivity:
Navigate to Detection Zone in the doorbell’s settings.
Set the sensitivity to 100. If you receive too many notifications, you can lower it gradually.
Check for Automations:
Go to the Home tab in the Wyze app and tap Automations.
Delete any Automations that might interfere and re-add them one by one while testing.
2. Troubleshooting the SD Card Issue
The Wyze Video Doorbell v2 supports local storage via a microSD card. However, it does not support continuous recording like Wyze cameras. It only saves event-based recordings to the SD card. If this is not working:
- Ensure the SD card is properly inserted and formatted.
- Check the SD card’s compatibility (it should be Class 10 or higher).
3. Wi-Fi Connection Issue
If the doorbell is not connecting to Wi-Fi:
Check Signal Strength:
Ensure the doorbell is within range of your router.
If the signal strength is low (less than 3 bars), consider moving the router closer or using a Wi-Fi extender.
Reboot Your Router:
Power off your router for 10 seconds and turn it back on.
Try reconnecting the doorbell to Wi-Fi.
4. Factory Reset the Doorbell
If the doorbell is not responding or won’t connect to Wi-Fi, a factory reset might help. Follow these steps:
Remove the doorbell from the wall plate by pressing it in and sliding it up.
With the doorbell powered on, press and hold the SETUP button on the back for 15 seconds until the status light turns solid orange.
Release the button and wait for the status light to start flashing orange.
Set up the doorbell again in the Wyze app as a new device.
If the factory reset does not work, you may need to power cycle the doorbell:
Flip the breaker switch powering the doorbell to the off position.
Wait for 10 seconds and flip it back to the on position.
5. Firmware and App Updates
- Ensure your Wyze app is up to date:
Go to the Account tab in the app and tap About.
Compare your app version with the latest version listed on the Release Notes & Firmware page.
- Check for firmware updates for the doorbell:
Go to the Account tab > Firmware Update.
Update the firmware if an update is available.

The chime that comes with it has a very low volume. I had to buy a separate wifi chime from their website. Also, there is no video recording on local SD card. There is just a thumbnail. You have to get subscription to see videos.
