UK reissue. Willie Dixon's songs have been recorded by artists as diverse as Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin, but there is little doubt that Howlin' Wolf was the finest interpreter. His versions of 'Shake for Me', 'Back Door Man' and 'Spoonful', among others, helped to define the blues in the 1960s. Not for nothing has Howlin' Wolf regularly been featured in any list of the 100 Greatest Artists of all Time. This particular album, an eponymous collection first issued in 1962 (the original featured a rocking horse on the cover, leading to the album sometimes being called the Rockin' Chair Album) was a gathering of some six singles released on Chess Records between 1960 and 1962. It includes all three titles referred to above, as well as two titles written by Howlin' Wolf in 'Who's Been Talkin' and 'Tell Me'. for the most part, the musicians featured are Howlin' Wolf (vocals), Hubert Sumlin (guitar), Johnny Jones (piano), Willie Dixon (bass) and Sammy Law (drums), but whoever is playing, the quality remains constant throughout. Album Tracks 1. Shake for Me 2. The Red Rooster 3. You'll Be Mine 4. Whose Been Talkin 5. Wang Dang Doodle 6. Little Baby 7. Spoonful 8. Going Down Slow 9. Down in the Bottom 10. Back Door Man 11. Howlin for My Baby 12. Tell Me
![Blind Willie McTell - Syncopated Country Blues Of Blind Willie Mctell - COMPACT DISCS [CD]](https://pisces.bbystatic.com/image2/BestBuy_US/images/products/306286b3-f524-4b9c-85da-5936a25535b0.jpg;maxHeight=422;maxWidth=264?format=webp)
A man once immortalised in song by Bob Dylan, no less, BLIND WILLIE McTELL was a noted Piedmont Blues and Ragtime singer and guitarist, who made his first recordings in the late 1920s. Dylan sang InchAnd I know no one can sing The Blues like Blind Willie McTell. InchEssentially a rambling, street musician in Georgia and on the streets of Atlanta, McTell played with a fluid, syncopated fingerstyle guitar technique, although unlike his Piedmont contemporaries, he played twelve-string guitars almost exclusive. He was also an adept slide guitarist, which was unusual among Ragtime Bluesmen. His vocal style, a smooth and often laid-back tenor, differed greatly from the harsher voices of Delta Bluesmen like Charley Patton. The material on this collection was recorded for Atlantic and Regal, in 1949, although many of these sides would not be released until the late 60s/early 70s Blues revival, some twenty years later. Album Tracks 1. Broke-Down Engine Blues 2. Dying Crapshooter's Blues 3. Pinetop's Boogie Woogie 4. Blues Around Midnight 5. Last Dime Blues 6. On the Cooling Board 7. Motherless Children Have a Hard Time 8. Soon This Morning 9. Don't Forget It 10. A to Z Blues 11. Good Little Thing 12. You Can't Get Stuff No More 13. Love Changin' Blues 14. Savannah Mama 15. Talkin' to You Mama 16. East St. Louis 17. Wee Midnight Hours 18. Pal of Mine 19. Honey It Must Be Love 20. Sending Up My Timber (TK. 2) 21. Lord Have Mercy If You Please 22. It's My Desire 23. Hide Me in Thy Bosom 24. River Jordan 25. How About You 26. Trying to Get Home (Climbing High Mountains)
