Initial impression.... Overall very good quality and very handy. Very slow to boil but most of the time you just leave it set for a temperature. Only when you refill it is it a long wait. Stainless steel outside, but I am not happy that the interior that contacts water is plastic on the stainless model. And the plastic had a plastic smell for the first couple of days. This is really similar to having an undersink "instant" water heater, except the undersink requires drilling a large hole in your countertop and if the undersink tank or plumbing blows out, you have a major house disaster on your hands. When this goes, you toss it and get a new one, without damage to the house with leaks. My wife and I go through a lot of hot water for tea etc during the Winter, which it is right now, so it works well for us. If you just occasionally use hot water and want it fast, just get a quick-boil plug-in kettle. We like that you have choice of 3 hold temperatures. It acts like a thermos so the water stays hot a long time and doesn't have to constantly reheat to hold the temperatures. A bit of learning curve to use it, but once you figure it out, it is easy.

Great product! I've bought many different appliances from this particular brand before and they never disappoint. I work two jobs and this is such a time saver every morning. It's very easy to use and I'm absolutely in love with the little tune it plays every time it's done boiling the water. The temperature is always perfect and it's been very convenient having not 1, but 2 of these boilers around our house. One of them is placed in my office and one downstairs for my family. It has 3 different temperature settings and is good for any kind of tea/coffee. 10/10 recommend.

Pros: easy to use, manual is available in many languages, the tank can rotate, many temperature settings, timer, Japan-made Cons: no so far.

I will keep this short and sweet...if you use boiled water and have been using a traditional water kettle type of product, this Zojirushi will make you wish you would have picked it up sooner. Just having constantly available hot water at the right temp in my house is such a big convenience. We drink tea a few times a day, use it for baby stuff, instant oatmeal, instant coffee sometimes among various other uses. And while it doesn't seem like it would be a necessity, it very quickly became one in my house and I plan on keeping one of these on my counter permanently. The convenience it adds is worth it. The only advice I have is to descale regularly because deposits WILL build up.
