12 Years a Slave - BLU-RAY

From acclaimed director Steve McQueen comes this Inchdeeply evocative and brilliantly actedInch film (Claudia Puig, USA Today) based on the true story of Solomon Northup. It is 1841, and Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), an accomplished, free citizen of New York, is kidnapped and sold into slavery. Stripped of his identity and deprived of all dignity, Northup is ultimately purchased by ruthless plantation owner Edwin Epps (Michael Fassbender) and must find the strength within to survive. Filled with powerful performances by an astonishing cast that includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Brad Pitt and newcomer Lupita Nyongo, 12 YEARS A SLAVE is both an unflinching account of slavery in American history and a celebration of the indomitable power of hope.

When local British Burma prince is found murdered, his grieving father seeks vengeance and Jim Brecan (Ryan) becomes the prime suspect. Fleeing for his life, he finds temporary sanctuary in a teak plantation managed by a wealthy colonial woman (Stanwyck). She believes in his innocence and the two fall in love but their happiness is threatened as authorities close in. Rather than submit to the uncertainty of a trial, they venture into the savage Burmese jungle where there is a different set of laws.

"12 Strong" is set in the harrowing days following 9/11 when a U.S. Special Forces team, led by their new Captain, Mitch Nelson (Hemsworth), is chosen to be the first U.S. troops sent into Afghanistan for an extremely dangerous mission. There, in the rugged mountains, they must convince Northern Alliance General Dostum (Navid Negahban) to join forces with them to fight their common adversary: the Taliban and their Al Qaeda allies.
