Outward Definitive Edition - Nintendo Switch

Having played the PC version for hundreds of hours, I will try to be as unbiased as I can! Outward is a challenging, unforgiving semi-open world, mixed with survival elements and souls-like combat. Your character is just a normal person trying to get by, not some hero destined for greatness. There is no manual game saving, and the map does not tell you where you are. If you are unprepared for a fight or environment, you can easily end up "dying" in unique ways that forcibly progress your character through the world with unintended consequences. Pros: - Fun, interesting world to explore - Different weapon types and skills allow for unique builds and combat styles - Unique defeat scenarios are interesting pathways for roleplaying - Four different factions to choose from, each with their own main story Cons: - (Switch) Map loading can take a bit of time - (Switch) Graphics are lesser quality and render distance for enemies is small, compared to PC (and maybe other consoles as well) - The game is very unforgiving to new / unprepared players, even with good gear and preparation. You need to put effort into learning how the survival and combat works in order to succeed - Survival mechanics and inventory management can feel more like a chore than a benefit - The maps can feel empty between encounters and areas - The few main quests (and side quests) are relatively short, most of your time is spent running around to different cities / maps - No fast travel - Some quests are timed, you must complete them within a certain number of days or you can fail and be locked out of certain choices / items Final Thoughts: I love this game, and if you want a challenge, then I implore you to give this game a shot! You may die a hundred times, but I hope you will feel as rewarded and satisfied as I felt when I learned to take down the bigger, badder enemies of the game.
