Excellent follow up to The Oracle

I've listened to 1000hp the album all the way through three times as of this review (album is streaming on iTunes radio). 1000hp returns to the in your face style that Godsmack showed on the first 3 albums (Godsmack, Awake and Faceless) and The Oracle, but it still retains a melodic touch from IV, which I find to be a nice mix, which makes it more than one dimensional. Every track stands out (and I mean EVERY track!) and he album flows better than any of their other albums due to it being their most diverse to date. With 1000hp, Godsmack are demonstrating they have the ability to become stronger and actually improve over time rather than suffer from apathy, lazy songwriting or basically 'coasting' on their earlier albums. Overall, this album is simply amazing and is worth every penny. Buy it!

I'll just start by saying that any new material from Godsmack is always a good thing, and is worth a purchase. As a fan since the first album, I have enjoyed every album that they have released since. With that said, this new album is a very solid piece of work, although it seems a little lacking. The songs are good, but most seem a little too straightforward and simple. With a few exceptions, most songs start and finish without showcasing the bands' true potential. Some songs could've benefited greatly from a little more length to include more guitar work/solos, and a drum solo from Sully or Shannon would've been appreciated("Turning to Stone" could've used it). Overall, this album is still a good album from a great band, it just could've been better. If you are a Godsmack fan and like their previous material, you will most likely find a lot to like on this album.

Godsmack continue to stay true to their roots, but have added a little maturity to the mix. Not as heavy as I would've liked (a'la their first few albums) but you can definitely tell they have matured as the musicianship has in my opinion gone up a notch along with the songwriting. I've heard complaints that all their songs sound the same and I couldn't disagree more and I especially paid attention to that while listening through this album. If you think it's all the same you're not really listening. The opening track is the typical radio single with a nice hook and then they carry through the album with some strong tracks and a few nice changes to the musical structure. All in all, if you're more than just a casual listener and have at least a few of their past albums, this one is definitely worth adding to the collection.

If you like the kind of music that Godsmack has put out in the past, you will probably like this too. If you've never liked Godsmack than this album isn't gonna change anything. Ive listened through the album about 5 times now any really like about half of the songs: 1000hp, FML, Something Different, and Locked & Loaded are my favorites. There are very few albums where I like every single song so this is no cause for alarm. Having said that, its just nice to go out and support the bands that you really like by getting their albums. Its a great way to say thank you and allows them keep making the music that you love :)

I have been following this band since Day One! The songs are heavy, music is intense and the performance is outstanding. Godsmack never disappoints. The live albums are true to the studio versions. 1000 HP is slightly mellower, but it is true Godsmack. There are never any compromises with this band. They are hard driving and always give more than you pay for live and recorded entertainment. It is heavy metal at its best. It is not just noise pretending to be music. Godsmack moves you on different levels each time you listen to them. You do not have to be a fan to enjoy them.

Godsmack is one of my favorite all time bands. So it pains me to give them anything other than five out of five stars. But I have to be honest, other than The Other Side, this is probably their weakest offering to date. The songs are good, and they rock well enough. but none of them stick with you. The guitar solos are shorter than on Godsmack's prior releases. This record is probably better than most/all new rock band releases. It just doesn't quite live up to Godsmack's high standards.

If Godsmack is one thing, it's consistent.

Love Godsmack, but it feels as if they've been writing the same song for years. The songs are heavy, but the lyrics feel as if they're dumbed down for the lowest common denominator of man. Dont't get me wrong, I like to sing a good cuss word from time to time, but when it's the foundation that's where I lose a little interest. Overall, it's a fun hard rock album, crank it up and have fun with it!

This newest album is another gem in the Godsmack collection. The boys kickstart it with 1000HP and end it with Life is Good (special bonus track for Best Buy purchasers)! Something different is just that and then some! The percussion/bongo tune is great too! I love these guys and have been following them from the beginning! I can't wait to see them on tour again!
