2015 debut album from the Ukranian guitar and drum machine noise makers. From Kiev to Kansas City, 20-something's the world over tend to traffic in the same sort of distractions from modern life clothes, sneakers, cars, love. Mascot holds these things for what they are fleeting diversions from the bleak realities of modern times and an increasingly uncertain political landscape. That the band composed, wrote and recorded Mascot’s eight songs in its hometown of Kiev only adds to their authority on the matter. As fluent in Jesus & Mary Chain's Psychocandy as they are with Sonic Youth and Big Black, Bichkraft is heavy, paranoid music with frenetic jams of dueling and weaving guitars, digitized howls, and amped up brutality and chaos, and even some undeniably pretty moments of love & decay.

Mr Bongo reissues, in full for the first time, a pioneering Trinidadian steelband album from 1979. Masterminded by the key and highly influential calypso / soca steelpan player, Len InchBoogsieInch Sharpe, Phase2 showcases Boogsie's innovative fusion of jazz, funk and Caribbean rhythms in stunning style.Dubbed 'the Mozart of Pan' by Wynton Marsalis, Boogsie began playing pan at the age of five and composed his own music by the age of nine years old. Across a long and illustrious career, he has won seven National Panorama Championships in Trinidad and Tobago with his compositions and band, a world Steelband Music Festival with his original compositions InchIn the RainforestInch, and two Notting Hill Panorama Championships with Mangrove Steel Orchestra. Over the years he has also played with Andre Tanker, Lord Shorty, Lord Kitchener, Leston Paul, Clive Zanda, and other amazing Caribbean greats. Len became an arranger for the National Steelband of Trinidad and Tobago and is a cultural ambassador for the country promoting the instrument.Phase2 is built up predominantly of original compositions by Boogsie, alongside a track penned by fellow Trinidadian musician Raf Robertson and an outstanding Trinidadian-disco cover version of Roy Ayers' classic 'Can't You See Me'. Phase II is the name of the band Boogsie started with six of his friends who sought to compose their own music.Drenched in feel-good island-life energy, the eight tracks showcase Boogsie's creative approach to the pan and it's ability to elevate the flavour of a host of genres not usually associated with the instrument.'Can't You See Me' is an underground disco banger that has become highly sought-after. It's no surprise why, with pan injecting Caribbean heat to Ayers' original. When rare groove DJs picked up on it and began playing it in their sets, it introduced Boogsie's talents to a wider audience.Far from

Limited 180 gram audiophile vinyl LP pressing including insert. By All Means Necessary is the second album from legendary American hip hop group Boogie Down Productions, and was originally released in 1988. The murder of DJ Scott La Rock in 1987 had a profound effect on KRS-One, resulting in a drastic rethinking of his on-record persona. He re-emerged the following year with By All Means Necessary, calling himself The Teacher and rapping mostly about issues facing the black community. He refuses to allow the community to be stereotyped. His observations are sharp, lucid, and confident. Yet he doesn't fall prey to the peachiness that would mark some of his later work. There are some lighter moments in the battle-rhyme tracks, and a witty safe-S*x rap in 'Jimmy'. This album is widely considered a landmark in political hip hop and is among the Source's 100 Best Rap Albums. The lyrics from this album have been sampled by everyone from Prince Paul to N.W.A.
