Q: this microwave is set up with a recirculating vent. where does it vent out? front ,rear , or side?
A: The vent is on the top rear as with most over the range microwaves. You can vent it traditionally (ie to an outside vent) or recirculate it, which means just that--the air recirculates as opposed to being vented outside. There is an air filter used for this that comes with the unit. I have done it both ways, depending on the house. In my opinion it's always better to vent outside but sometimes there may not be an existing outside vent to attach to so unless you want to make one by cutting a hole through an outside wall, you would simply use the recirculating option. Great microwave!!
So i just installed this. Insallation was pretty easy. I love the look and the inside is a grey color that i love and looks easy to clean. The only thing i dont like is the light under the bottom of microwave is in the very back, my last microwave had the light up front so when using my stove i had that light to light up my cooking area, this one is to far back to do that so im searching for a light bar to attach under this. It seems to run quiet.

Very pleased so far
It's brand new, so I could change my mind in a few months if it breaks down. But, so far this is an excellent microwave. I was also pleasantly surprised about how easy it was to install - my son did it for me and it took less than an hour with me helping him. It's definitely a two-person job. It's an over-the-range, and I was worried about venting because I don't have a vent to the outside and it's hard to tell from the description how the vent works. The vent came already set up for recirculating and venting out the top front which was exactly what I needed (and probably what most people need for an over-the-range microwave). Once installed, don't forget to remove the little plastic vent covers. The first photo is looking from the top down, so you can see where the vent is. I'm putting a 4 for quality because it's not a high-end microwave but seems good so far. 5 for value because it was a good price for a Whirlpool (which never seems to go on sale!) Super easy to use.

Best selection and right price
I bought this Whirlpool to replace a 10 year old over the oven whirlpool model. This model is easy to use just like the prior model. It was also easy install since it used the same wall bracket as prior model. Took me about an hour and a half to unpack, install, drink a beer and clean up. This model seems to be heat up food super well. Oddly neither Lowes nor Home depot had any over the oven microwaves that weren't super expensive. Best Busy my surprise had a better selection and matching prices than all the competitors in my city (50 mile radius). Very pleased with my purchase.
