A Silent Hill game all around.

As a Silent Hill enjoyer, this game comes across as a breath of fresh air. The first person POV is just amazing when paired with the insanely gritty and dark atmosphere that Silent Hill is always known for. It takes you (the player) and makes you feel like you are walking around St. Amelia exploring its fog ridden streets to figure out the mystery of what's going and why you are here. The story itself is a very strong one IMO, one that builds itself overtime as you go deeper into the game and get to know more and more about the characters, who they are, and what is their significance to the town and the overall story. Even the characters themselves are so beautifully written. Simon Ordell, Zoe Ellis, and Richard Shaw. All three are brought to life by their respective actors and wow. They all are so good. Especially Zoe, in which I found myself very sympathetic towards her character. I would go into why, but I'd leave that for you to find out if you were to play the game and experience it entirely from the ground up! As for the gameplay, everything about it is just great. I have zero complaints at all. As I'm writing this, I had purchased this game on release and played it until 100% completion on my PS5, seeing all the endings and even earning the Platinum Trophy. This game is such a wild ride, a very tense one at that and it knows what it needs to do in order to be yet another great Silent Hill entry. I couldn't recommend this game more. Please do yourself a favor and pick this game up as soon as possible!

    spooky!

Silent Hill: Townfall has a creepy atmosphere that immediately pulls you into its mysterious world. The unsettling environments and psychological horror create a constant feeling of tension. I really enjoyed the dark storytelling and the way the game keeps you guessing about what is actually happening. The visuals and sound design make every moment feel eerie and unpredictable. Overall, Townfall looks like a promising addition to the Silent Hill series for horror fans.

    Haunting Atmosphere, Uneven Execution

After spending roughly 39 hours with the physical PS5 edition of Silent Hill: Townfall, I can confidently say it's a worthwhile addition to the series, even if some aspects could have been better executed. The atmosphere is easily one of its strongest qualities. The environments are beautiful, the character designs are memorable, and the transitions into those unsettling red-tinted environments are particularly striking. The CRTV mechanic was a personal highlight. Tuning frequencies to detect enemies through walls, uncover story fragments, and find guidance makes exploration feel engaging while complementing the game's psychological horror. Unfortunately, the narrative pacing occasionally works against itself. Certain sequences build considerable tension only to end abruptly and begin another lengthy buildup. While I appreciate intentionally fragmented storytelling, there were moments when the narrative felt unnecessarily stagnant rather than purposefully mysterious. This made the story harder to fully appreciate during my first playthrough. Combat is another mixed experience. The melee mechanics reminded me somewhat of Condemned: Criminal Origins. They're functional and occasionally satisfying, but fighting multiple enemies can feel awkward. I also found the consequences of certain gameplay decisions insufficiently communicated, leaving my first ending somewhat disappointing. On PS5, performance mode with HDR generally provided a smooth experience. However, I encountered occasional frame-rate drops during cutscenes and a few soft-locking bugs. Despite these criticisms, Townfall has a distinct identity, compelling atmosphere, and genuinely creative mechanics. For its price, I believe it's worth experiencing, particularly for fans of psychological horror who appreciate exploration and unconventional storytelling. Overall: 4/5 stars. Recommended, with some reservations.

    Decent Price for Decent Game

I picked this up due to it releasing at a "budget" price, and was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked it. It's not a perfect game, and in fact there are some major issues that do effect the experience, but overall my thoughts are positive, and I'm happy I picked it up physically. I even ended up using the little DLC skin for the portable television that came with the "Day One Edition".

A Great Addition To The Series

Ive been playing Silent Hill since 1999 and I have appreciated every installment for the good and the bad. Silent Hill Townfall is a great experience. It has great atmosphere, great pacing and understands the Silent Hill formula. I wish there was the option to change the perspective just to change up replays. This is one of the better Silent Hills in the series. Looking forward to more great Silent Hill games in the future. 4.5/5
