George Falconer (Colin Firth) feels lost. Not only is he still grieving the death of his longtime companion, Jim (Matthew Goode), but he's also a Brit teaching English at a California college. He's so distraught with heartbreak that he's decided to kill himself, and proceeds to get all his affairs in order while carrying on with what otherwise would be a normal day. He gives an unusually forceful lecture to his class, revealing enough that a perceptive student, Kenny (Nicholas Hoult), senses something is wrong with the professor; collects his important financial papers from his bank; buys bullets for a handgun he owns; and makes a visit to his best friend (Julianne Moore). But throughout these methodical preparations, George keeps running into people -- a colleague's daughter, a attractive gay hustler, and the sympathetic Kenny -- who offer him glimpses of why he should stay alive. Tom Ford Never Disappoints... A Classic Man Always
I’ve liked Tom Ford for some time now; find him to be the “Classic Man” through and through. By no means does “Classic” infer old fashioned or outdated, on the contrary, I think Tom Ford is so ahead of things that you feel he is always and forever the same because he’s just good yesterday, today and tomorrow. These are things that a real man aspires to be in life – never old, forever young.
Somehow, Tom Ford has been able to take this amazing story & set of characters and given them a breath of his essence. There is so much beauty in every shot in this moie. As some one who loves film I was amazed at the use of lighting and color correction. There was not one single moment that I was not in awe of the complete work. The casts really brought those characters to life on the screen and Colin Firth’s Oscar Nomination was well deserved.
When you watch the “Making of…” (that’s in the Special Features) you realize all the actors credit Tom Ford with orchestrating the whole thing masterfully. It’s just amazing to see someone begin to do something new and just be as talented as with everything else that they do. If you want to get an inside look at the master’s mind watch the movie again with his commentary -the insight is brilliant.
I can’t wait to see what Tom Ford will give us next.

I truly likedo the style of the movie as it reminds me of old-time classics. Interesting situation and hard to believe the way things were.
